The Legend of St. George by Teacher Amy and Teacher Megan. 00:00:02
Once upon a time, there was a little village in the mountains. 00:00:15
There were houses, sheep, chickens, and a big beautiful castle. 00:00:21
The king and his daughter, the princess, lived in the beautiful castle. 00:00:40
Everybody was happy to live in such a peaceful village. 00:00:59
But one day, out of the blue, a green dragon came from the forest. 00:01:06
The dragon ate all the sheep and chicken in the village. 00:01:15
The dragon said, 00:01:32
I'm hungry. I will eat you and you. I will eat everything. 00:01:34
The people in the village became very worried 00:01:53
Because there were no more animals and nothing left to eat, they decided to go to the castle to speak with the king. 00:01:58
They ran to the castle where the king was waiting outside for them. 00:02:11
They begged the king for help to save them from becoming the dragon's next meal. 00:02:22
The king listened carefully and then replied, 00:02:45
I don't know what to do. 00:02:50
A man from the crowd told him to give the princess to the dragon 00:02:54
and then the dragon will go away. 00:03:01
The king replied, 00:03:06
That sounds good, but I only have one daughter. 00:03:09
The dragon can't eat her. 00:03:17
The king suddenly understood it was the only way. 00:03:23
he went to the princess and said i love you my daughter but i have to do what's best for the 00:03:30
entire village the king gave the princess to the bad green dragon the dragon took her away 00:03:45
to the forest and yelled, 00:04:00
Mmm, what a banquet I will have with you. 00:04:04
You seem tasty and delicious, yummy. 00:04:11
Please, no, cried the princess. 00:04:17
A few days later, a knight in shining armor 00:04:26
rode into the village on a horse as white as snow when he saw the village people he asked why are 00:04:30
you so sad the village people told him that the dragon took the princess the night replied I'm 00:04:49
brave I'm not afraid of the dragon I'll go rescue the princess and he took off 00:05:04
on his horse the night rode through the forest until he reached the dragon's 00:05:13
cave come out bat dragon yelled the night the dragon came out and replied 00:05:30
Who are you and what do you want? Saint George replied. My name is Saint George and I've come 00:05:42
to fight you and rescue the princess. Help Saint George, I'm afraid of dragons, cried the princess. 00:05:54
You are way too small to fight me, roared the dragon. Saint George pulled out his sword 00:06:03
and started to fight the dragon. 00:06:17
The dragon breathed fire. 00:06:24
The knight yelled, 00:06:35
Stop, bad dragon! I'm not afraid of you! 00:06:37
After a few minutes, the dragon gave out one last roar 00:06:42
and fell to the ground covered in blood. 00:06:52
From the dragon's blood, a beautiful red rose grew. 00:07:04
St. George gave the rose to the princess. 00:07:18
Thank you, said the princess. 00:07:23
You're welcome, replied the knight. 00:07:27
And that is why we celebrate St. George on the 23rd of April every year and give red roses to people. 00:07:31
The end. 00:07:46
