Hairstyles. These are some of the most common hairstyles for men and women. 00:00:01
Short. Long. Shoulder length. Straight. Wavy. Curly. Afro. Layered. Bangs. Ponytail. Pigtail. Braid. Pixie. 00:00:11
Hello there everyone and welcome to Room 5. 00:01:01
My name is Alison Lanthorn and today I'm going to talk to you about hairstyles. 00:01:45
really I'm going to talk to you about hairstyles, hairdos, and haircuts, alright? Throughout 00:01:51
my life I've had loads of different hairstyles. When I think, probably the first time I got 00:01:56
my hair cut, I was probably fourteen years old, fifteen years old. I remember I was a 00:02:01
sophomore in high school. Now, when I think about that, it wasn't the first time I got 00:02:07
my hair cut ever. Obviously I had had my hair cut in the past, but it was the first time 00:02:12
I had a drastic cut. I'd always had my hair really long. In fact, a lot of times I had 00:02:17
had bangs, what I have here. Most of the time, I'm trying to think, I'm trying to remember, 00:02:23
but I think most of the time, at least until high school, I had bangs, and I had long hair. 00:02:28
And like I said, my sophomore year was when I cut it for the first time, shoulder length. 00:02:37
All right, I cut it to here, so I cut it shoulder length. But when I was younger, I always had 00:02:41
long hair, which was, my hair naturally is wavy. So I had long, naturally wavy hair. And I remember 00:02:46
in, in elementary school and in junior high that I used to style my bangs. I used to, it was the 00:02:54
eighties. So I used to style my bangs and I used to put kind of like curl them with the curling iron, 00:03:01
the curling iron, right? So I would curl them and then I would wrap the hair like this in order to 00:03:07
give it height, and then with the height, I would spray it, and I would have sort of 00:03:12
almost like a fountain of bangs on my forehead, and what can I tell you? 00:03:17
It was the 80s. 00:03:23
It was a crazy time, and high bangs were in fashion, and I had to be with the fashion, 00:03:24
so I always had my high bangs styled, but like I said, then when I was in my, I think 00:03:29
my sophomore year is when I cut my hair shoulder length, and probably actually when I entered 00:03:36
high school or maybe even in my later years of junior high, I started to grow out my bangs 00:03:42
and I had, you know, my bangs the same length as the rest of my hair. But again, I always 00:03:48
had long hair. So I cut my hair short, shoulder length, sophomore year. Then I grew it out, 00:03:53
again I let it grow and grow and grow, and then I cut it again short in my, actually 00:03:59
yeah, coincidentally, I cut it again short in my sophomore year of the university. So 00:04:06
I cut it again short like this, and I had it here that it would kind of flip out. All 00:04:12
right, but I never had bangs again. I never actually cut short bangs again. Then I grew 00:04:17
it out again longer, and in my final year of the university, in my senior year, I dyed 00:04:23
my hair black. Well, not completely black, but really, really dark brown. So I dyed the 00:04:29
whole hair really dark brown, and I cut it really short in the back, and had it longer 00:04:36
here in the front. Now this style, I loved this style. Really, really cute. But again, 00:04:42
like everything, I got tired of it. So I let it grow back out again, and I started to dye 00:04:48
dye it back to my natural color. So that was again, yeah, in the last years of the university 00:04:52
and when I moved here to Spain to get a master's degree. But then when I was getting married, 00:04:59
I wanted to grow it longer. So I was letting it grow and grow and I had my hair long and 00:05:04
sometimes I would straighten it with a flat iron. I would straighten it, but most of the 00:05:09
time because I'm a little bit lazy, I would just let it be wavy. Because like I said, 00:05:14
I have naturally wavy hair. So that's how I did it most of the time. But then, once 00:05:19
I got married, unfortunately, my hair stylist was moving to New York. So I decided, all 00:05:23
right, you're leaving. I've had long hair for ages now. One final hurrah, cut my hair 00:05:30
short. And he did. And I loved it. He cut it to about here, all right? It wasn't quite 00:05:35
shoulder length, and it wasn't as short as it is now. He cut it to about here. And I 00:05:41
really, really liked it, but I didn't have bangs. I had everything the full length, and 00:05:47
again to about here, and it was fantastic. Alright, he left, and so now I'm going to 00:05:52
another hair stylist. Now she's good, but she's not my favorite, and what she's done 00:05:57
recently, what her idea was, was to cut it short, kind of like a bob, alright, so to 00:06:03
cut it short, and then to cut bangs, which really, I'm not the biggest fan of these bangs. 00:06:08
they're too much work for me, all right, I'm a little bit, I look in the mirror, and I think, 00:06:15
really, and then again, I like to do yoga, I like to do Pilates, I run, so I sweat, and I have these 00:06:19
bangs, and if I don't have time to style my hair, then I have to do something, because the bangs get 00:06:26
all wavy, and curly, it's just really not a good look, so having this hairstyle requires me to, 00:06:31
to style it more often, so at the moment, this is what I've got, as you can see, I've basically had 00:06:38
to every hairstyle imaginable. 00:06:44
The only thing I've never done is shave my head completely. 00:06:46
I've never shaved my head. 00:06:50
Who knows? 00:06:52
Maybe someday. 00:06:52
That's Room 5 for today. 00:06:54
Thanks for joining me. 00:06:55
