Welcome back to our vocabulary video series. This unit is called European Mountain Ranges. 00:00:12
Today, we're going to learn words that will help us understand what mountain ranges are 00:00:21
and where they're located in Europe. Before we get started, you should probably know what a 00:00:26
mountain range is. A mountain range is a series of mountains arranged in a line and connected 00:00:36
by high ground. Imagine it's like a belt or a line that stretches across an area, 00:00:42
but made up of really tall mountains, like this picture. 00:00:55

The first mountain range is the Ural Mountain Range. 00:01:08
The Ural Mountains are a mountain range that forms the border between Europe and Asia. 00:01:11

The Alps are in France, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria. 00:01:40
The highest mountain in the Alps is Mont Blanc, and Mont Blanc is one of the most famous mountains in all of Europe. 00:01:50
The next mountain range is the Scandinavian mountain range. 00:01:57
The Scandinavian mountains are located on the Scandinavian peninsula in the north of Europe. 00:02:08
They are one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. 00:02:19
They form a natural border between Norway and Sweden. 00:02:22
The next mountain range is the Caucasus Mountain Range. 00:02:27
Like the Urals, the Caucasus Mountains also form part of the boundary between Europe and Asia. 00:02:36
The mountain range is between the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea. 00:02:43
Europe's highest peak is Mount Elbrus, which has an elevation of 5,642 meters and is in the Caucasus Mountains. 00:02:48
