The Pilgrims lived in England. 00:00:22
They could not have their own church, so they left their homes for a new land far away. 00:00:27
The pilgrims crossed the ocean on a ship called the Mayflower 00:00:33
The wind blew, the ship rocked 00:00:39
The pilgrims prayed that it would not sink 00:00:43
After many months, the boat stopped at Plymouth, Massachusetts 00:00:45
The pilgrims thanked God for keeping them safe 00:00:52
The pilgrims built their homes 00:00:56
Winter came 00:01:01
Icy winds blew 00:01:02
Snow fell 00:01:04
There was not much food to eat. 00:01:06
Spring came and the snow melted. 00:01:12
The pilgrims built barns. 00:01:14
They planted wheat and beans. 00:01:17
They planted potatoes and spinach. 00:01:19
One day, three Native Americans came to visit. 00:01:25
One named Squanto stayed to help the pilgrims. 00:01:28
Squanto taught the pilgrims how to hunt and fish. 00:01:33
He gave them seeds and showed them how to plant corn, pumpkins, and squash. 00:01:36
The vegetables grew. 00:01:44
The pilgrims filled their barns with food. 00:01:46
For the next winter, they would have enough to eat. 00:01:49
The pilgrims invited their Native American friends to a great feast. 00:01:56
For three days, they ate turkey, fish, corn, beans, pumpkins, and squash. 00:02:02
On Thanksgiving, we eat turkey, corn, and pumpkins, just like the Native Americans and pilgrims. 00:02:10
And like them, we also say, 00:02:18
Thank you, God, for our families, our food, and our homes. 00:02:21
