Hello, we are Raquel and Valentina. 00:00:00
We are going to talk about the end of the glaciers, our project. 00:00:08
Glaciers are large masses of ice in motion. 00:00:11
They originate when snow accumulated in cold places compacts and recrystallizes. 00:00:14
They are so important that they cover approximately 10% of the Earth. 00:00:20
Each year, less glaciers get formed due to the increase in Earth temperature and climate change. 00:00:24
The consequences can be devastating such as the increase in sea level which leads to the drowning of many islands. 00:00:30
We can prove this by observing the melting process of the glaciers in Iceland between the dates of 2018 and 2022 using the website of your browser. 00:00:37
So as we can see the amount of the glaciers in the square meters has decreased and each year in winter less of them are being formed. 00:00:48
We can expect that soon no more are going to be formed, giving them an end. 00:00:58
In this graph we can observe the greatest consequence of glaciers melting, the rise of the sea level. 00:01:03
From 1880 to 2020, the rise of the global average sea level has increased enormously. 00:01:09
An example of an island that has been affected are the seashells. 00:01:16
It has been reported that one metre rice could cover many of its islands, giving them a 70% loss of its landmass. 00:01:20
Our actions are the only way of stopping this global problem. 00:01:28
The solution is to reduce climate change by doing some of these things. 00:01:32
Reduce as much waste as possible, drive a low-carbon vehicle or public transport, and don't ditch much meat which contributes to the release of greenhouse gases. 00:01:36
gases. Every sparse and ecological action is a step forward to saving the earth, so take action! 00:01:47
