Learn about the characteristics of opinion articles
Dear students, today we're going to learn how to write an article in English. One
00:00:00
of the most important things in an article is to have an eye-catching title
00:00:06
that will make the reader want to read more. Introduce the topic in an
00:00:11
attractive way to make the reader want to read more. You can also ask a question
00:00:15
that can be answered along the article. Usually, most commonly, we do this
00:00:19
towards the end. Then comes the main body. In the main body we're going to develop
00:00:24
the different ideas. I recommend always starting a new paragraph when a new idea comes along.
00:00:29
In this example, you have the positive aspects of living in the country. The next paragraph
00:00:35
will deal with the positive aspects of living in the city. Last but not least, write a conclusion.
00:00:43
Make it interesting and also make it personal by giving your opinion and taking sides.
00:00:50
you may include a question to make the reader think about what they've just read
00:00:55
what about style style should be informal and lively remember the magazines are addressed at
00:01:01
a wider public all articles must contain some descriptive writing because they are subjective
00:01:07
so you may have to describe people places objects changes feelings etc so you should include a
00:01:13
variety of vocabulary like for example adverbs adjectives and because you're
00:01:20
most likely writing for an exam more specific vocabulary rather than vague
00:01:27
words like people or things but not all articles are informal for more serious
00:01:31
articles you will need to use discussative writing which is a type of
00:01:37
writing you use in an essay or formal letter so the type of language that you
00:01:41
need is more serious and you will also need to include linking words and
00:01:47
phrases as well as expressions which will help you to explain, analyze, show
00:01:50
cause and effect, suggest, compare or contrast. Check these examples. And that's
00:01:57
all about writing an article in English for SC1 exam. Thanks for watching!
