The figure four drag is a very secure way to drag victims short distances and keep 00:00:00
them low out of the smoke. It works well regardless of whether the victim is 00:00:53
wearing clothes or not and no matter how slippery the victim is. To perform this drag, reach 00:00:59
under one or two of the victim's limbs, grab your opposite arm, and then put that hand 00:01:04
on the victim's limb. Now drag. If the atmosphere allows you to stand up and lift the victim, 00:01:10
this is one of the fastest ways to remove a victim from the fire building. To perform 00:01:16
this carry, sit the victim up and one of the rescuers reaches underneath his armpits and 00:01:21
grabs his wrist. The other rescuer crosses his legs and lifts them onto his shoulder 00:01:25
while turning like lifting a ground ladder. Now you can quickly and safely exit the fire 00:01:29
building and navigate any stairs or obstacles you need to while both of the rescuers face 00:01:34
forward. Additionally, the rescuer in front has one hand free for the tick or tools. 00:01:39
The fast draft is one of the best ways to remove victims from fire buildings while keeping 00:01:46
them low out of the smoke. To perform this drag, get the victim on their back. Now pull 00:01:50
out your webbing loop and anchor it to the ground with your knee. Now you can grab one 00:01:56
of the victim's arms and drop it through the loop. Then grab the other arm and drop that 00:02:01
through the loop. Now reach through the loop from bottom to top and grab the strap that 00:02:07
you've pinned to the ground with your knee. Now girth hitch it underneath the victim's 00:02:13
head and drag. 00:02:17
As you can see in this video, when two rescuers perform this drag, the secondary rescuer clips 00:02:19
his webbing loop onto the fast strap. 00:02:25
Now both rescuers have one hand free and can exit the building quickly. 00:02:28
Use the L-carry if you foresee the need to lift the victim. 00:02:34
Carry the victim up or down stairs or take the victim out of a window. 00:02:37
Have two hose straps connected together for this. 00:02:40
Get the victim on their back, cross their arms, cross their chest, and pin them there 00:02:43
with your knee. 00:02:47
Then loop the victim's nearest leg with your hose strap. 00:02:48
Cross the strap across the victim's chest in an L, and then sit the victim up with your 00:02:51
fists without letting go of the hose strap. 00:02:56
Now you can hitch the straps together using the six hitch behind the victim's back, and 00:02:58
you're ready to drag or carry. 00:03:03
A fireman's carry is an excellent way to remove a victim if the atmosphere allows it. 00:03:22
Both rescuers have to work in tandem as a team to get this done. 00:03:26
Get the victim's heels to his butt. 00:03:30
Get the victim sitting up. 00:03:32
Now you both lift, and one of you holds the victim. 00:03:33
First lift is onto the back rescuer's knee. 00:03:36
Then reposition. 00:03:40
Second lift is into the standing position. 00:03:41
The back rescuer holds him, and the front rescuer gets underneath, hooks one arm and one leg. 00:03:43
When he's in position, both of the rescuers lift him into the front rescuer's shoulders. 00:03:50
Now you're ready to exit the building. 00:03:54
To perform the fireman's carry by yourself, get the victim prone with their feet facing 00:03:56
a wall. 00:04:06
Now, slide the victim back until their feet touch the wall and fold them back on their 00:04:07
knees. 00:04:12
Hold them in this position while you walk around, then sit the victim up. 00:04:13
Now, reach around the victim's armpits and stand up and press the victim up against the 00:04:17
wall. 00:04:23
Now pin the victim's knee locked against the wall while you drop down with one arm, one leg, and stand up and exit the building. 00:04:24
