Disney Princess, Beauty and the Beast 00:00:02
One cold night, an old beggar woman knocked on the door of a beautiful castle. 00:00:06
She offered a young prince a rose in return for shelter. 00:00:15
He took one look at the woman's rags and sent her away. 00:00:19
But the old woman was actually a beautiful enchantress in disguise. 00:00:23
She cast a spell on all who lived in the castle and turned the prince into a hideous beast. 00:00:29
With him, she left an enchanted mirror and a rose, which would bloom until his 21st birthday. 00:00:35
If he could learn to love and be loved before the last petal fell, the spell would be broken. 00:00:43
If not, he would be a beast forever. 00:00:50
In a nearby village, a beautiful girl named Belle had just borrowed a book from the bookshop. 00:00:53
It's my favorite, Belle told the bookseller. 00:01:03
Far off places, daring sword fights, magic spells, a prince in disguise. 00:01:07
Like the people in her books, Belle longed for adventure and romance. 00:01:13
Gaston, a handsome hunter, wanted to make Belle his wife. 00:01:18
But Belle had bigger dreams. 00:01:23
Gaston snatched the book out of her hands. 00:01:26
Belle, it's about time you got your head out of those books and paid attention to more important things. 00:01:29
Like me, he said, tossing her book in the mud. 00:01:36
Suddenly, a loud boom came from the cottage where Belle lived with her father, Maurice. 00:01:39
Belle hurried home to see if he was okay. 00:01:46
Maurice was all right, but something was bothering Belle. 00:01:51
I'm not sure I fit in here, she told him. 00:01:56
There's no one I can really talk to. 00:01:59
Don't you worry, he assured her, 00:02:01
because this invention's going to be the start of a new life for us. 00:02:04
Then, with the tightening of one last screw, 00:02:08
the machine roared to life, 00:02:12
and Maurice soon left for the fair with the family horse, Philippe. 00:02:14
When they reached a fork in the road, 00:02:19
Maurice had Philippe take a shortcut. 00:02:22
But after a while, it started to get dark, and a gloomy mist filled the air. 00:02:24
Tree branches towered over their heads as wolves howled in the distance. 00:02:31
This can't be right, Maurice said. 00:02:36
Without warning, a swarm of bats flew out from a tree and scared Philippe. 00:02:39
The poor horse threw Maurice and bolted, leaving him alone in the forest. 00:02:45
A pack of hungry wolves growled at Maurice from the darkness. 00:02:53
He ran away, but lost his balance and stumbled down a hill. 00:02:58
When he looked up, the wolves had him cornered by a gate. 00:03:03
Help! he cried, shaking the bars of the gate. 00:03:06
Is someone there? 00:03:10
Just then, the gate creaked open, so he quickly slipped through. 00:03:11
He made his way to a castle he saw in the distance. 00:03:16
Cautiously, he opened the front door. 00:03:20
Inside, the castle was very dark, so he picked up a candelabrum to help him see. 00:03:24
Suddenly, the candelabrum started to talk. 00:03:31
A nearby mantel clock started to talk, too. 00:03:34
The objects were enchanted. 00:03:37
Come warm yourself by the fire, suggested Lumiere, the candelabrum. 00:03:40
Cogsworth, the mantel clock, did not think that was a good idea. 00:03:47
Suddenly, a hideous beast stormed in, growling from the shadows of the room. 00:03:54
So, you've come to stare at the beast, have you? 00:04:00
He said, glaring at the intruder. 00:04:04
Please, I meant no harm, said Maurice. 00:04:07
He was so scared he could barely speak. 00:04:11
I just need a place to stay. 00:04:14
But the beast wouldn't listen. 00:04:17
Roaring angrily, he grabbed Maurice and locked him in the castle tower. 00:04:20
Back in the village, Gaston arranged to marry Belle outside her cottage. 00:04:26
There was only one problem. 00:04:33
He hadn't proposed yet. 00:04:35
He confidently knocked on Belle's door, walked in, kicked off his muddy boots, and started to talk about the future. 00:04:38
Their future. 00:04:46
Belle knew where that was going. 00:04:48
So when he leaned in to kiss her, she opened the door. 00:04:51
Gaston tumbled out of her cottage and landed in a pool of mud. 00:04:55
Her answer was no. 00:04:59
Belle couldn't believe Gaston had proposed. 00:05:05
He didn't understand her at all. 00:05:08
Once she was certain he was gone, Belle went for a walk in the hills to clear her head. 00:05:11
When Philippe ran across the field toward Belle, her father was nowhere to be seen. 00:05:18
Where's Papa? You have to take me to him, she said. 00:05:25
Philippe took Belle straight to the gates of the castle. 00:05:29
There she found her father's hat. 00:05:33
She knew she was at the right place. 00:05:36
Cautiously, she entered the gates and went inside the castle. 00:05:40
Papa, she asked, are you here? 00:05:45
But no one replied. 00:05:48
She wandered through dark corridors and long hallways. 00:05:51
Finally, she came to a staircase and walked up the steps. 00:05:56
When she reached the top of the stairs, Belle found her father. 00:06:03
You must go, now! he warned her. 00:06:08
There wasn't enough time to explain. 00:06:10
Suddenly, the beast appeared from the shadows. 00:06:13
He's my prisoner, he told her. 00:06:17
Please, let my father go. Take me instead, said Belle. 00:06:19
The beast agreed and sent Maurice back to the village. 00:06:25
At the village tavern, Maurice rushed in, upset about the ferocious beast. 00:06:30
He told Gaston and the villagers he needed their help to rescue Belle. 00:06:36
But everyone thought he was crazy. 00:06:40
We'll help you out, said Gaston. 00:06:43
Then they threw Maurice out into the snow. 00:06:47
Once Maurice was gone, Gaston thought of a new plan to make Belle marry him. 00:06:51
At the castle, the Beast showed Belle to her new room. 00:07:00
He explained she could go anywhere, except for the West Wing. 00:07:05
When she asked why, he lost his temper. 00:07:10
Belle didn't ask the Beast any more questions after that. 00:07:14
She even refused to eat dinner with him that night. 00:07:18
I've lost my father, my dreams, everything, cried Belle, 00:07:22
as the objects in her room tried to comfort her. 00:07:27
Cheer up, child. It'll turn out all right in the end, an enchanted teapot told her. 00:07:31
You'll see. 00:07:38
The enchanted objects were excited to meet Belle. 00:07:40
They thought she could be the one to finally break the spell. 00:07:44
So, later that night, when Belle wandered into the kitchen, they whipped up a delicious 00:07:48
meal for her. 00:07:54
Be our guest, they sang, trying their best to make her feel welcome. 00:07:55
After dinner, Belle couldn't possibly think of sleeping. 00:08:05
It was her first time in an enchanted castle, so Cogsworth gave her a tour. 00:08:09
But when he wasn't looking, Belle climbed the steps to the forbidden west wing. 00:08:17
At the end of a hallway, she found herself in a dark room. 00:08:23
A torn portrait of a handsome man hung on the wall. 00:08:28
Nearby, a glowing rose wilted in a glass case. 00:08:32
Belle reached to touch the rose, but the beast stormed out from the shadows. 00:08:37
Do you realize what you could have done? 00:08:42
He growled, growing angrier with every word. 00:08:46
Get out! 00:08:50
He yelled. 00:08:51
Terrified, Belle fled the castle with Philippe. 00:08:52
Belle rode through the dark forest as fast as she could toward the village. 00:08:59
But something was wrong, and Philippe skidded to a stop. 00:09:03
Wolves emerged from the trees and surrounded them. 00:09:08
Philippe reared up in terror, sending Belle into the snow. 00:09:12
Just as a wolf lunged at Belle, a powerful claw reached out and saved her. 00:09:17
It was the beast! He stood over Belle, ready to protect her at any cost. 00:09:23
The wolves attacked, but the beast fought them off. 00:09:29
He was badly injured. 00:09:32
Looking at Belle with sorry eyes, he collapsed into the snow. 00:09:34
Belle knew she couldn't leave him there, so with Philippe's help, they took the beast back to the castle. 00:09:38
Meanwhile, Gaston plotted his next move. 00:09:49
Everyone knows her father's a lunatic, Gaston began. 00:09:53
He also knew Belle would do anything to protect her father. 00:09:58
So unless Belle agreed to marry him, Gaston would have Maurice thrown into an insane asylum. 00:10:02
At the castle, Belle cleaned the beast's wounds. It was not an easy task. 00:10:08
That hurts, he complained. Well, you should learn to control your temper, 00:10:15
she replied. The beast was quiet. He knew Belle was right. 00:10:21
By the way, thank you for saving my life, Belle said gently. 00:10:26
The beast could not believe his ears. No one had ever thanked him before. 00:10:31
After that night, something changed inside the beast. 00:10:40
Knowing how much his new friend loved books, 00:10:45
the beast showed Belle the castle's impressive library. 00:10:48

She was surprised by his kindness. 00:10:56

Dressed in their finest clothes, Belle and the Beast enjoyed a splendid feast together 00:11:43
and shared a dance in the ballroom, looking deeply into each other's eyes. 00:11:49
Belle, are you happy here? 00:11:55
The Beast asked when they finished dancing. 00:11:57
Yes, she said, looking away. 00:12:00
Even though she was happy, she missed her father dearly and wanted to see him again. 00:12:04
So the beast handed Belle the enchanted mirror. 00:12:11
He explained it would show her anything she wished to see. 00:12:15
She asked to see her father. 00:12:19
He suddenly appeared in the mirror, but he was sick and lost in the woods. 00:12:22
You must go to him, said the beast. 00:12:28
He hadn't told Belle that he loved her, but he cared so much that he let her go. 00:12:31
Taking the mirror with her, Belle rushed back home. 00:12:36
The beast was heartbroken. 00:12:40
Belle found her father and brought him back to the cottage. 00:12:46
He was surprised that the beast had been kind enough to let her go. 00:12:50
Suddenly, someone knocked on the cottage door. 00:12:54
The townspeople had come to take her father away. 00:12:57
They thought Maurice was crazy for believing in a ferocious beast. 00:13:01
Gaston grabbed Belle's arm. 00:13:06
I might be able to clear up this little misunderstanding if... 00:13:07
You marry me, he said. 00:13:11
Never, Belle cried out. 00:13:15
My father's not crazy. 00:13:18
I can prove it. 00:13:20
She grabbed the enchanted mirror and showed the beast to the villagers. 00:13:21
He's really kind and gentle, she told them. 00:13:25
He's my friend. 00:13:29
But no one would listen. 00:13:31
We'll rid the village of this beast, Gaston said. 00:13:33
Then Gaston and the villagers locked Belle and Maurice in the cottage and went to find the beast. 00:13:37
Belle and her father managed to escape and rushed to the castle. 00:13:47
They saw Gaston on the roof attacking the beast, who was too sad to defend himself. 00:13:52
What's the matter, beast? said Gaston. 00:13:58
Too kind and gentle to fight back? 00:14:02
Belle begged Gaston to stop, but he ignored her. 00:14:06

It was too late to break the spell. 00:14:47
But then, magical streaks of light began to fill the sky. 00:14:50
The beast turned back into a prince, and the enchanted objects returned to their human forms. 00:14:57
The spell was broken." 00:15:04
Bell, it's me, said the handsome prince who stood before her. 00:15:06
Looking into his eyes, Bell knew it was him, and they shared their first kiss. 00:15:13
It was then that Bell knew her dreams of adventure and romance had all come true. 00:15:20
