You 00:00:00
Hey everyone guess where I am 00:00:11
Well, don't think so hard. I am in space 00:00:15
Do you see that blue ball? 00:00:20
Well, that's where you are 00:00:22
That's the earth 00:00:25
But hey, what are these? They are the layers of atmosphere 00:00:27
So, let's learn about the layers of atmosphere today. 00:00:33
Zoom in! 00:00:37
This is the Troposphere. 00:00:39
This layer is where the weather occurs. 00:00:41
This is the lowest atmospheric layer and begins at the surface of the earth.. 00:00:44
..and extends out to about 4 to 10 miles. 00:00:51
The temperature of the Troposphere decreases with increase in altitude. 00:00:54
Just so that you know, altitude is the height of an object or point in relation to the ground level. 00:00:59
Now we are in the stratosphere, second lowest layer of earth's atmosphere. 00:01:08
Here the temperature rises with the rise in altitude. 00:01:15
You will also find the ozone layer here, which helps absorb harmful UV rays from the sun. 00:01:20
This is the layer where you will find aeroplanes flying around. 00:01:27
As the stratosphere is free of all weather disturbances. 00:01:35
The stratosphere extends to about 30 to 35 miles above the earth's surface. 00:01:39
This is the mesosphere, where most meteors burn upon entry. 00:01:46
The mesosphere stretches up till 50 miles from the earth's surface. 00:01:52
The thermosphere is next and the air is very thin here. 00:01:56
Temperatures get extremely hot in the thermosphere. 00:02:02
It extends up to 400 miles from the earth's surface. 00:02:06
The lower part of this layer contains the ionosphere. 00:02:11
Many atoms are ionized in this layer and you will also find electrical charge here. 00:02:15
This is the last layer and the air is quite thin here. 00:02:21
Yes, it is the exosphere. 00:02:29
It goes all the way up to 6200 miles from the earth's surface. 00:02:32
Did you know? 00:02:43
Troposphere contains more than 75% of atmosphere's mass. 00:02:44
And the ions in the ionosphere help to transmit radio waves. 00:02:50
It's getting a bit spooky here. 00:02:59
I think it's time for me to get back to earth. 00:03:02
So this is me zooming out. 00:03:05
Tune in next time for more fun facts. 00:03:08
