If you could take a look inside this person riding the skateboard, you would see an amazing team of different body systems working together. 00:00:00
Welcome to MooMooMath and Science and 11 Body Systems. 00:00:08
There are at least 11 body systems that work together to help keep the human body alive. 00:00:12
Up first, the integumentary system. It consists of our skin. 00:00:19
Our skin is the largest organ of the body. It acts as a barrier which protects us from the outside world, helps prevent water loss, and regulates our temperature along with allows us to touch our surroundings. 00:00:23
The skeletal system is made up of our bones, ligaments which attach bone to bone, tendons which attach muscle to bone, and our joints. 00:00:38
The skeletal system helps with movement and protection. 00:00:49
The muscular system is responsible for movement inside and out of the body. 00:00:55
There are three major types of muscles. 00:01:01
Skeletal muscles, which are muscles attached to bones. 00:01:03
Smooth muscles, which are involuntary muscles found inside the stomach, the intestines, and several other places. 00:01:07
And cardiac muscle, which are muscles of the heart. 00:01:14
The urinary system filters blood through the kidneys where it works to filter out waste and produces urine. 00:01:19
The function of the respiratory system is to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide between the atmosphere and the blood. 00:01:29
The lungs are a major organ of this system. 00:01:39
The digestive system breaks down food so nutrients can be absorbed by the body. 00:01:44
It has three main functions. 00:01:48
Ingest food, break food down so that nutrients can be absorbed, 00:01:50
and eliminate what can't be digested. 00:01:55
The endocrine system sends chemical messages throughout the body. 00:01:58
This system is composed of glands that produce hormones 00:02:04
that act as chemical messengers of the body. 00:02:07
For example, adrenaline is a hormone that causes you to have a sudden burst of energy. 00:02:10
the reproductive system is responsible for producing offspring the lymphatic system 00:02:16
includes organs and cells that filter lymph and blood and destroy foreign microorganisms 00:02:24
lymph is the fluid that leaks out of the capillaries this fluid circulates among the 00:02:31
tissue cells and is collected by lymphatic vessels and returned to the veins the nervous system 00:02:36
sends electrical signals throughout your body. These signals may cause your arm to move or your 00:02:43
heart to beat. This system is composed of two major divisions, the central nervous system, 00:02:49
which is the brain and the spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system, which consists of the 00:02:55
nerves that branch out from the brain and the spinal cord. The circulatory system pumps blood 00:03:02
throughout your body. It consists of your heart, veins that carry blood to the heart, arteries that 00:03:07
carry blood away from the heart, and capillaries which connect the veins and the arteries. Thanks 00:03:14
for watching and remember kindness multiplies kindness. Be kind to someone today. 00:03:20
