Did you know the first humans appeared on Earth over one million years ago? 00:00:03
That's a really long time. 00:00:12
And we call this period prehistory. 00:00:15
The first humans were nomads. 00:00:22
That means they moved from place to place on foot. 00:00:25
They gathered wild plants, they caught fish, and they hunted animals. 00:00:29
They lived together in huts or caves, in small family groups called tribes. 00:00:36
During this time, they discovered how to make fire. 00:00:52
They used it for cooking, heating, for light, and to scare away animals. 00:01:02
This was a very important discovery. Gradually, humans started to learn more skills. 00:01:10
And about 10,000 years ago, people learned to cultivate plants and take care of animals. 00:01:23
This was the beginning of farming. They stopped moving from place to place and they became sedentary. 00:01:32
They built houses, small huts, took care of their animals, and grew their crops. 00:01:46
Then about 8,000 years ago, people started to work with metals to make tools and weapons. 00:02:00
And then they invented the wheel. 00:02:11
This was a very important invention, because it meant they could travel more easily. 00:02:15
in simple cars. At the same time, they also discovered how to make sailing boats, so they 00:02:21
could move on water as well. As it was easier for them to move from place to place, they 00:02:37
began to train with other people. And this is the end of Prehistory. 00:02:48
