IES Manuel de Falla High School is an ambassador school of the European Parliament. 00:00:01
Throughout the year we have created and participated in many activities and events devoted to the EU and its values. 00:00:05
The info point is a creative and eye-catching way to teach everyone who passes by about the EU, its history, member states, its values and benefits. 00:00:11
We very much enjoyed working in teams for the initiative launched by the European Parliament, 00:00:23
creating Instagram stories that address social issues. We were lucky enough to 00:00:27
have won a spot in the Brussels Parliament for our story on fake news. 00:00:32
We had the opportunity to attend expert talks, workshops and training sessions which 00:00:38
helped us to improve our knowledge and the methodology we used to create 00:00:43
activities for other students. We encouraged our peers to express 00:00:47
themselves about the EU in a contest with multiple categories ranging from 00:00:53
drawings to songs. We are very proud that we created activities to teach the EU to 00:00:58
third-year students and have fun while learning. We felt empowered to teach our peers and we learned 00:01:05
so much. We were impressed by their engagement and participation with this cooperative methodology. 00:01:11
Exchanges are an excellent way to connect with other students in other countries. Learning how 00:01:17
to interact with other cultures is a pillar of understanding how to be a global citizen. 00:01:22
Overcoming language barriers, learning about different customs and making friends is one of the reasons I became a junior ambassador. 00:01:26
eTwinning allows us to work with peers from different countries in a twin space. 00:01:34
Tech news and security is a serious issue that concerns us all. 00:01:39
The new project called United for the Environment, with a school in Sweden, deals with EU plans to combat climate change. 00:01:44
Being an ambassador school allows us to celebrate different events like Europe Day with contests, quizzes as well as some concerning topics such as violence against women 00:01:51
So we are more involved and more aware of these current matters 00:02:02
Everyone can take part in multiple activities 00:02:05
We enjoy being radio reporters producing our own podcast that explain our work about the EU so that it reaches a larger audience 00:02:08
We were also interviewed by a local radio station 00:02:20
The expert workshop and the training encouraged us to participate in the MEU in Madrid and 00:02:23
we were able to organize one in our school. 00:02:30
This model was efficient, practical and realistic. 00:02:33
We ambassadors participated either chairing the conference or as ministers. 00:02:36
We prepared a student escape room. 00:02:42
We put the students' knowledge about the EU into practice by inserting them into a 00:02:44
criminal investigation in which they had to save the president of the European 00:02:49
Parliament who had been kidnapped. They had to follow several clues but all 112 00:02:53
students managed to complete the challenge successfully. The scenery of 00:02:59
the room with smoke and laser was amazing. We enjoyed the incredible 00:03:04
experience of being the leaders of the skateboard. The flash maps were a great 00:03:09
opportunity to express the history and values of the EU through dance which had 00:03:16
metaphorical visual representation thanks to the choreography. We and the 00:03:20
audience really enjoyed it. 00:03:25
