Hi learners! This is your teacher and today we are going to learn about the conditional 00:00:01
sentences. First of all, it's good to know that there are actually five types of conditional 00:00:06
sentences, also called F clauses. The good news are that you are just required to study the first 00:00:14
and second type throughout this grade. Let's consider several key facts before starting. 00:00:22
Any conditional sentence is a complex sentence, which means that it is made up of two clauses, 00:00:33
the if clause and the main clause. These kinds of sentences are also known as if clauses due 00:00:38
to the fact that they are usually introduced by the conjunction if. Instead of if, we can find 00:00:44
unless or another adverb of time such as before, as long as, and so on and so forth. 00:00:51
It is also important to know that we can flip the clauses, so the conditional clause and the 00:00:57
main clause can be in any order. If we take into account the structure, the form of each type, 00:01:01
the formula is always the same. In the if clause, if it's the first type, the tense we have to use 00:01:12
is present simple or continuous and future simple in the main clause. We could also find a modal 00:01:17
verb or an imperative construction in this part of the sentences, but we will just consider the 00:01:25
future simple for the moment on the contrary if we are using a conditional sentence type 2 we will 00:01:30
find past simple if in the if clause and would or could in the main clause which as you perfectly 00:01:42
know are followed by a verb in the base form or infinitive without to now let's watch a video 00:01:49
about the use of the conditional sentences I want to get up early 00:01:59
tomorrow if you sleep early you'll be able to get up early mom I want to be 00:02:03
first in my class if you study hard you'll be the first mom I want to be 00:02:13
fit if you eat healthy food you will be fit so as you've seen the first type is 00:02:24
used for situations in the present or in the future which are likely to happen in the future 00:02:40
that is if the condition in the if plus is true then a particular result will happen in the future 00:02:45
on the other hand a conditional sentence type 2 is applied in hypothetical situations or 00:02:56
situations that are very unlikely or improbable to happen as you can see in the examples below 00:03:02
and that's all about the conditional sentences but you need to do a very 00:03:10
simple task for the moment I want you to answer the following questions so that 00:03:19
they are true for you see you in class bye 00:03:24
