hello we are going to continue with Spain in the Middle Ages we are going to look at the two main 00:00:00
styles of architecture during this time and then we will go over a concept map about the Christian 00:00:13
kingdoms during the Middle Ages the Christians built a lot of religious buildings there were 00:00:20
two main styles for the architecture of these buildings, Romanesque and Gothic. 00:00:32
Here we have some examples of Romanesque churches. The church of San Martin de Fromista was built in 00:00:45
the 11th century and the Cathedral of Zamora in the 12th century. You can see there's a bell tower, 00:00:52
lantern tower, low thick walls, a semi-circular arch, window, and a barrel vault. Here we have 00:01:02
some examples of Gothic cathedrals. We have Palma de Mallorca Cathedral from the 13th century 00:01:21
and the Cathedral of Burgos from the 13th also from the 13th century. You can see 00:01:28
the bell tower, windows with beautiful stained glass, central nave, pointed arch, 00:01:37
rose window, and rib vault. Now let's go over the concept map about the Christian 00:01:47
kingdoms. We will be talking about the Christian kingdoms from the 9th to the 14th centuries. 00:02:01
The kingdoms can be divided into three stages. The first Christian areas, territorial, 00:02:15
and repopulation. In the Christian kingdoms, there were two social groups, the privileged 00:02:27
and the non-privileged. The privileged lived an easier life. They had more resources and money. 00:02:37
The king, nobles, and clergy were all privileged. Life in the non-privileged group was harder. 00:02:48
They did not have a lot of resources, and they had to work a lot. 00:03:02
And the peasants were part of the non-privileged group. 00:03:07
Castilian cities could be divided into the bourgeoisie and the guilds. 00:03:16
Medieval art. 00:03:26
There were two main styles, Romanesque and Gothic. 00:03:28
Okay, that's all for now. 00:03:36
Goodbye. 00:03:38
