Hello, we are Guti and Leo and we are going to talk about the World War I. 00:00:00
The war began in 1914 with the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. 00:00:06
His murder catapulted a war across Europe that lasted until 1918. 00:00:14
During the conflict, Germany, Ottoman Empire, Austro-Hungarian Empire and Bulgaria 00:00:22
fight against United Kingdom, United States, Russia, Japan, Canada, Italy, France and Romania. 00:00:29
Thanks to the new military technologies and the 10th World War, there were a lot of carnage 00:00:41
and destruction. They died 16 millions of people. There were disorders, traumas and 00:00:47
mental illness caused by the war. To understand why so many countries were in the war is because 00:00:58
before the war there were a lot of alliances and rivals. France and Germany were rivals 00:01:06
because they both were in war between 1817 and 1871. Russia and Austro-Hungarian Empire 00:01:14
were also rivals because they both wanted volcanic territories, and when the Austro-Hungarian 00:01:27
Empire declared war on Serbia, Russia helped Serbia because they were an alliance. 00:01:35
Some of the most important battles were these. 00:01:42
Lemberg in August 1904, Marnay in August 1904, Lagos de Massoula, September 1904, Calipoli, February 1915, Tannenberg, August 1914. 00:01:45
These battles were Germany versus Russia. Only in this battle 182,000 people died. 00:02:03
Cyprus, October 1914. In 1917, Russia led the war with the first little street. In Russia, the socialist revolution defeated the Tsar Nicholas II. 00:02:10
In this year, the United States entered in the war as a triple entente member. This made more powerful the triple entente. 00:02:25
Germany, after all the years of war, was in social and economic crisis. 00:02:33
The emperor Guillermo II abdicated and Germany became a republic. 00:02:39
The 11th of November 1917 Germany signaled the end of the fight in Copenhagen. 00:02:44
The war ended with the trade of Versailles where all the countries that participated in the war signaled the peace. 00:02:54
This happened in the 28th of June of 1918. 00:03:00
At 1914 Christmas, the soldiers from both sides sent some Christmas carols to each other. 00:03:05
In the war participated more than 30 countries. 00:03:13
A third of the deaths were due to a pandemic. 00:03:16
The Russian Empire was the largest with more than 12 million soldiers. 00:03:21
and as several countries use toxic gases as a weapon. 00:03:26
Thanks for listening. 00:03:32
