My name is Mila and I'm the English language assistant at Colegio Santa Bárbara 00:00:00
and I'm happy to be here alongside my students 00:00:04
and they're happy to present the work we've done this year. 00:00:08
Hello, my name is Bosco, I'm a student of Foro Crédito Preso. 00:00:12
Hello, my name is Joan and I'm a student from First of Bachillerato. 00:00:15
Hi, my name is Blanca and I'm a student of First of Bachillerato. 00:00:19
Hi, my name is Nono and I'm a student of First of Bachillerato. 00:00:23
Today we will be speaking about how Colegio Santa Barbara had grown with the CBC project. 00:00:26
The CBC project is too important for our high school. 00:00:32
The CBC project is a bicultural program that ensures all students are exposed to language and culture from Spain and the United States. 00:00:35
Part of the program is to have a teacher from the United States to teach a portion of the subjects in English with content of the United States. 00:00:44
Today we will be speaking about our objectives, topics and skills, our courses, methodology, projects and other activities. 00:00:53
The main objectives of the CDC project are to learn about the culture of some English-speaking countries, 00:01:01
to improve oral skills and interaction in the English language and provide opportunities to speak about different everyday topics. 00:01:08
Here, as you can see, are some of the projects and topics that we have worked on. 00:01:15
Here, for example, there is a map of the US. While doing it, we have learned about different identities of this country. 00:01:20
We have dealt with topics such as historical events that took place in different states. 00:01:28
We have practiced doing a normal presentation in class. 00:01:34
The CBC project is in first to fourth grade of ESO in these subjects. 00:01:38
biology, physical education, music, human values, world religion, conversation and social sciences. 00:01:43
This is our methodology of our English learning, researching, understanding and executing. 00:01:54
These three steps are completed throughout the different domains of speaking, listening, reading and writing. 00:02:00
For example, in music class we've listened to audios from famous singers, 00:02:06
express our feelings through creative writing, read each other's work, and present our final pieces. 00:02:11
Okay, so here are some of the projects we have done this year. 00:02:20
In first grade, biology students have learned about the parts of the plant 00:02:25
and learned about the characteristics of bacteria. 00:02:29
We worked in groups and in pairs in order to dissect the flowers 00:02:32
and learned about the parts of the bacteria in the science lab. 00:02:36
In second grade, in music class, the two main projects were about genres, mood, and female artists. 00:02:41
As you can see, we also worked in groups, giving special importance to the collaborative work. 00:02:49
In third grade, social sciences students have learned about the first English settlers in the U.S., 00:02:56
as well as the geography and climate in this country. 00:03:03
Okay, and last but not least, in fourth grade, religion students have learned about the different religions all around the world, as well as the characteristics of the Catholic Church, and paying special attention to female saints like Santa Teresa, as you can see in their posters. 00:03:06
In addition, we have done other CBC activities that have been very successful, such as the 00:03:29
Spelling Bee Contest and the Spelling Bee. 00:03:37
In the Spelling Bee Contest in Biology, students worked together to create a song. 00:03:40
Students from all grade levels made a research investigation in order to achieve their final 00:03:46
result using all their creativity. 00:03:51
This was the Spelling Bee Contest. 00:03:55
The whole school took part in it as they practiced the spelling and pronunciation of words from 00:03:58
on all subjects. Participants were excited to engage in an activity that is very common 00:04:02
in the American culture. 00:04:07
As you can see, the CBC project has helped Colegio Santa Barbara to grow in many directions. 00:04:08
Thank you for your attention. 00:04:16
