Welcome everyone! Today we are going to focus on the historical and architectural richness of three Granada jewels, the Alhambra, the Generalife and the Albaicín. 00:00:09
This is what we are going to talk about throughout the presentation. The first thing we are going to talk about is the origin, the second is its evolution, the third the most prominent parts and the fourth a small tourist area to visit the monuments. 00:00:19
The first is the origin. 00:00:31
The Alhambra began to be built in the year 1238, during the reign of Muhammad I. 00:00:42
Its development continued until the year 1492, when Granada was conquered by the Catholic kings. 00:00:48
At that time, Christian Spain was in full reconquest, recovering Muslim territories in the peninsula. 00:00:55
The following is the evolution. 00:01:02
How has the Alhambra evolved over time? 00:01:04
From the first constructions in the 9th century as a military fortress to its splendor with the Nazarite sultans in the 14th century, the Alhambra has evolved significantly. 00:01:08
In the 16th century, Carlos V ordered to build a Renaissance palace and, after a period of abandonment in the 17th century, the reforms and restoration works began in the 19th and 20th centuries. 00:01:21
Today, the Alhambra is an important cultural and tourist attraction, a symbol of the rich heritage of Granada. 00:01:34
Most outstanding parts of the monument 00:01:41
One of the most outstanding parts is the Palace of the Lions. 00:01:44
The Palace of the Lions, built by Sultan Muhammad V, is the most emblematic of the Alhambra. 00:01:47
In its central square, surrounded by 124 pillars, is the famous fountain, supported by marble lions. 00:01:53
This palace contains several impressive halls, such as the Hall of the Kings, decorated with paintings by the courtesan goddess, the Hall of the Abel Cerrajos, with the star-shaped capsule, and the Hall of the Two Sisters, with a dome of Mollabaris and the mirador of Lindaraja. 00:02:00
The oldest part of the Alhambra is the Alcazar, which was built in the 9th century as an offensive fortress and center of surveillance. 00:02:19
Its rectangular plan includes the tower of the candle at the western end and is surrounded by a wall of great thickness with several strategic towers, such as the tower of the homage and the tower of the weapons. 00:02:28
There is also the generalife, whose name means architect's garden. It was the residence of the rest of the Mazaryan sultans, located on a hill north of the Alhambra. 00:02:41
This palace is surrounded by beautiful gardens and a pond flaking by two rows of fountains, 00:02:53
where the water flows thanks to an ingenious hydraulic system that allowed the irrigation of gardens and orchards. 00:02:59
We continue with the Palace of Carlos V. 00:03:08
It was built in the 16th century and is an outstanding example of the recentist style. 00:03:10
Its unique circular patio in Spain and its central location in Alhambra 00:03:16
It also has a crucial element of the monumental set. 00:03:21
And finally, we have the Parthal, which is one of the oldest areas of the Alhambra 00:03:25
and preserves remains of ancient Nazarian palaces. 00:03:29
Its central stand reflects the beauty of the building's attic. 00:03:32
From here you can enjoy impressive views of the Albaicín and the Sacromonte. 00:03:36
And this would be a map of the Alhambra, where you can see the areas with the numbers 00:03:41
and here what each thing would be to be able to visit it. 00:03:47
Y terminaremos con la guía turística. 00:03:50
Vale, los horarios de visita. 00:03:54
Del 1 de abril al 14 de octubre está la visita diurna, de lunes a domingo. 00:03:55

Here we see how you can get to Alhambra. It can be by foot from the center of Granada, which takes about 20 or 30 minutes, 00:04:42
then by public transport, on the lines 30 and 32 of the bus you can easily get there, and by car that there are nearby apartments. 00:04:49
And then there are complementary options, which in addition to the visit of Alhambra, the Generalife and Albaicín, 00:04:56
there are complementary options that enhance the experience. These include the San Nicolás viewpoint, which offers panoramic views of Alhambra, 00:05:01
the cathedral of Granada, which is a renowned Renaissance church, 00:05:09
the royal chapel, where the tombs of the Catholic kings are located, 00:05:13
the monastery of San Jerónimo and the science park and the Arab bathrooms. 00:05:17
And there we leave you a link to the web page, which is a very good option to buy tickets or excursions to Granada. 00:05:21
It is also very cheap. 00:05:27
As a conclusion, today we leave you that Alhambra is a wonderful place that invites you to discover a piece of history, art and nature in the same place. 00:05:29
Vive la magia de sus jardines, palacios y visitas. 00:05:37
No te lo puedes perder. 00:05:41
Esperamos que disfrutéis y que podáis visitarla en algún momento de vuestra vida. 00:05:42
Y muchas gracias por todo. 00:05:48
Adiós. 00:05:49
