Let's continue on page 98. 00:00:00
We use machines every day at home and in the classroom. 00:00:04
Machines make work easier and they can help us move objects. 00:00:12
Machines can help us lift, push, and pull things. 00:00:18
Simple machines have one or two parts. 00:00:23
A wheel and axle, a leveler, a pulley, a wedge, a screw, 00:00:28
and an incline plane are all simple machines. 00:00:35
Now, because we do not have stickers, you will listen 00:00:40
and we will draw together each of these simple machines. 00:00:44
Number one, a wheel and axle. So here we have the wheel and then the pull is the axle. 00:00:50
Number two, a wedge. Here we have a type of wedge. This is a axe and an axe is a type of wedge. 00:01:08
Number three, screw. Number four, a lever. Number five, a pulley. Number six, an inclined plane. 00:01:24
If you need to, you can pause your screen right here and copy each picture. Now, 00:02:11
let's continue to activity number two. Look at activity one and number the words. 00:02:26
So you will look and listen as I say each simple machine and write the correct number. 00:02:35
One, wheel and axle. Two, wedge. Three, screw. Four, lever. Five, pulley. Six, 00:02:44
inclined plane. Now let's continue to activity three. You will use the pictures above and the 00:03:07
numbered vocabulary and we will write in under each picture which simple machine it is. I will 00:03:23
tell you the first one for an example and then you can use your own work to fill in the other 00:03:35
other four. This first picture is a lever. A lever is used to 00:03:43
push an object up and down. Next we have wheel and axle. So look 00:03:50
at the pictures and try to think which is a wheel and axle. A 00:04:00
wheel and axle moves heavy objects by making them roll forward on a round wheel. 00:04:09
Next we have a pulley. A pulley is a simple machine used to pull or move an object up, 00:04:19
so it lifts objects up in the air. 00:04:29
Inclined plane. An inclined plane is a ramp and we can use this ramp or slope to move heavy objects 00:04:35
forward and up. We use inclined planes to load a truck or a car with heavy materials and boxes. 00:04:47
and wedge. A wedge is used to push two objects apart or to cut an object in 00:04:57
pieces. Some examples of wedge machines are scissors or axes and they are used 00:05:07
to cut. So please write under each picture which is which simple machine. 00:05:19
Okay, good work. 00:05:26
