Well, the human eye works no less than a digital camera. 00:00:01
The fact that you are seeing so many things has a process. 00:00:06
And I'll tell you what actually happens inside your eyes. 00:00:10
This is the cornea. 00:00:17
The cornea is the clear front surface of the eye. 00:00:19
You know, it actually acts like a camera lens. 00:00:23
You could say that this is the window that allows the light to get in. 00:00:27
Next comes the iris, which is a thin circular structure in the eye. 00:00:34
This works like a camera shutter, deciding what should be the amount of light that enters the eye. 00:00:41
It passes the light rays to the back of the eye called the pupil. 00:00:49
which appears as a black hole at the centre of the iris. 00:00:56
It is the opening through which light enters the eye. 00:01:02
Depending on the amount of light, the iris stretches and contracts the pupil. 00:01:07
Just how the aperture of a camera works. 00:01:13
Then comes the lens of the eye, which is just behind the pupil. 00:01:17
Okay, do this experiment. 00:01:23
Close one eye and bring a pencil close to the eye which is open. 00:01:25
Make sure you can see it clearly. 00:01:32
Now, bring the pencil close to your eye. 00:01:35
Bring it closer, closer, that's right. 00:01:39
Now, does it become blurry? 00:01:44
Well, this is the job of the lens of your eye. 00:01:47
It focuses and de-focuses, depending on how far the object is from your eye. 00:01:51
Now, the light reaches the retina. 00:02:00
This acts as an image sensor of a digital camera. 00:02:03
Well, in simpler words, it converts the light that you take in, into electronic signals. 00:02:07
Then, the optic nerve of the eye transmits those electronic signals to the brain.. 00:02:15
..which lets you finally see an object. 00:02:22
