Hello, Tricero! This is your auxiliar from last year, Taylor. 00:00:00
I'm here to tell you that if you're watching this video, it's because I'm dead. 00:00:03
Just kidding! I'm in California! But I'm here today to explain to you what is Global Classrooms. 00:00:08
Do you feel like you can go into the world now as a leader of society? 00:00:26
Not sure, but I think I will be more prepared for it. 00:00:32
What got you through the struggle? Oh, what got you through the grind? 00:00:39
It's on the rise, through the store, and I can feel it 00:00:42
It's slowly coming back to the core of good music 00:00:44
Back when letters were spittin', the shit was different 00:00:47
It wasn't debates, if the bars were actually written 00:00:49
I'ma be cool 00:00:52
So, first things first 00:00:53
What is the United Nations? 00:00:56
And what is Global Classrooms? 00:00:59
And what do they have to do with each other? 00:01:01
What is the UN, or the United Nations? 00:01:04
And what do you think they do? 00:01:07
Maybe you think of our world representatives like this, sleeping, boring, unattentive. 00:01:08
Or maybe you think they're all up in arms, they're fighting, they're debating, it's aggressive and intense. 00:01:15
But in reality, it's a little bit of both. 00:01:21
Perhaps. 00:01:25
Now let's allow a skilled professional to give you more information about the UN. 00:01:26
The United Nations was established in 1945 with the signatory of 50 countries 00:01:31
for the sole purpose of preventing the outbreak of war and averting a world war. 00:01:35
The United Nations has many parts to it. 00:01:43
It deals, for instance, with matters of economics and social policy. 00:01:46
It deals with matters of human rights and matters of culture. 00:01:50
The most important parts of the UN are the Security Council, 00:01:54
which has five permanent members who are responsible for controlling its policy. 00:01:57
These are France, Britain, the United States, China, and Russia. 00:02:02
The other body that is very important is where all the nations meet and come together, 00:02:07
and that is the General Assembly. 00:02:12
Both the General Assembly and the Security Council pass what are called resolutions 00:02:14
to make policy for the world. 00:02:18
The UN has been responsible for eradicating polio in Africa, for instance, 00:02:21
of dealing with problems of debt or problems of other diseases spreading, for example. 00:02:24
UN has been very important in making sure that human rights are observed. 00:02:30
The most famous document in the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, 00:02:34
which has been ratified and kept by many countries. 00:02:38
UN, precisely because it's so complex, 00:02:42
is determined to make sure that everything can be done towards a big picture of peace 00:02:44
and trying to make sure that humanity attains the primary purpose of what it says, 00:02:51
that we believe, we believe in a better future. 00:02:56
So maybe you know now, more or less, a little bit about the UN. 00:02:59
Ultimately, you should understand that these countries, with their delegates, 00:03:02
solve the needs or the problems of the world through discussion, deliberation, 00:03:06
and then they come to a resolution. 00:03:12
So what are you doing in Global Classrooms? 00:03:15
Global Classrooms is a simulation of the UN. 00:03:18
In other words, in this simulation, you're going to do a mock UN General Assembly meeting. 00:03:21
All the nations meet and come together and that is the General Assembly. 00:03:29
Another way to think about it is instead of this, you will be doing this. 00:03:34
So that brings us to the question, how will you start? 00:03:40
