When you begin your testing session, you will first see this screen. 00:00:00
You will need to log in before each test with your username, password, and session ID. 00:00:09
The system has different parts that you will need to understand to take your test. 00:00:20
The screens may be different for each section of the test. 00:00:28
Let's look at each part of the screen. 00:00:32
Important information and tools are located at the top of the screen, 00:00:37
including the title of the test section you are taking. 00:00:43
The speaking and writing sections of the test require a headset 00:00:47
to listen to test information and instructions. 00:00:56
Your headset also has a microphone. 00:01:03
When you put on the headset, place the microphone in front of your mouth. 00:01:06
For the speaking test, you will speak into the microphone to record your test answers. 00:01:12
A headset icon will appear on the screen when you need to use your headset to hear audio or speak into your microphone. 00:01:19
To adjust the volume at any time during a test, click the Volume button. 00:01:30
A window pops up and allows you to drag the bar to the right or left to adjust the volume. 00:01:39
Close the volume window by clicking on the X at the top right corner. 00:01:51
The speaking directions tell you what is on the test in the speaking section. 00:02:00
For the speaking section, you will listen to information and may see pictures or read information about your tasks. 00:02:07
Then, you will record your responses by speaking about what you learned. 00:02:16
Each speaking question has two timers. 00:02:28
The Step 1 timer will tell you how much time you have to prepare your answer. 00:02:32
The Step 2 timer will tell you how much time you have to record your answer using your 00:02:39
microphone. 00:02:46
When the time has expired, the below message will appear on the screen. 00:02:49
In the Writing section, you will first read and listen to information, and then you will 00:02:58
write about what you have learned. 00:03:04
Some writing questions will ask you to read over a passage that is written incorrectly. 00:03:09
After reading the paragraph, correct the text in the boxes on the right side of the screen 00:03:19
that correspond to the highlighted text on the left side of the screen. 00:03:25
When you are finished, you can click on the Next button to move on. 00:03:32
Another type of question will ask you to type in your answer. 00:03:40
Directions and text about the question will appear in the top part of the question box. 00:03:47
To type your response, first click in the response box, then begin to type. 00:03:56
You may edit your response by using the tools above the response box. 00:04:07
The timer shows you how much time you have to answer the questions in the section. 00:04:15
If you wish, you may hide the timer by clicking on the X. 00:04:23
To unhide it, click on the clock. 00:04:28
When the time has expired, the below message will appear on the screen. 00:04:34
