This is a tale about some tadpoles and a little Turkish girl called Simton. This is no ordinary tale, dear friends, oh no. This is a tale of a small town somewhere near an amazing and ancient city called Istanbul. 00:00:05
A tale of greed, power, destruction, determination and just a little. 00:00:27
But before we continue with our adventure, there's one very important thing that I must tell you, dear friends. 00:00:39
This is a true story that never happened. 00:00:47
It's a fine, fine day 00:00:52
That you come and play 00:01:05
It's a beautiful sky 00:01:09
The sun is so high 00:01:13
It's coming from the trees 00:01:18
Like ice in the breeze 00:01:21
Come and play here with me 00:01:26
It was a fine, fine morning in a fine, fine town called Askenville. 00:01:28
This was quite a sleepy town, but it was a very happy town. 00:01:51
Shops and businesses were opening up for the day. 00:01:57
People were going to work or doing what they had to do. 00:02:00
And children, being children, were going out to play. 00:02:04
Hmm, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, so what could possibly go wrong? 00:02:28
Okay, listen up guys, you know the routine, so let's get to it! 00:02:46
1. I want danger signs and keep out signs up ASAP. 00:02:51
2. I need planning notices up all over this place, especially on the buildings that have to be demolished. 00:02:56
3. That pawn has got to go. It stinks. It's a health hazard and it's in the way. 00:03:02
Now, let's move, move, move. We've got work to do. 00:03:10
And remember, time is money and money is power. 00:03:14
Let's get started, we've got work to do. We've got deadlines, no time to waste. 00:03:19
Let's get started, we've got work to do 00:03:30
We've got dead lives, no doubt away 00:03:35
Let's get started, we've got work to do 00:03:39
We've got dead lives, no doubt away 00:03:46
Let's get started, we've got work to do 00:03:49
What's going on? 00:04:00
What do you think you are doing? 00:04:04
Now you listen to me. Pick up your tools and your planning notices and get out of here. 00:04:08
We don't take orders from you. 00:04:15
No, we work for Mr. Big. 00:04:18
Oh yeah? And who precisely is Mr. Big? 00:04:22
I am Mr. Big 00:04:27
And I'm going to make you an offer that you can't refuse 00:04:30
I'll make you rich 00:04:34
I'm gonna build paradise right here before your very eyes 00:04:37
Because 00:04:43
This town will change 00:04:44
This town will change 00:04:48
This town will change 00:04:51
Before your very eyes 00:04:54
Before your very eyes 00:04:57
Wow, did that very happen? 00:05:03
I don't believe what I've just seen. 00:05:27
Well, you had better believe it. 00:05:30
Take a look at this planning document. 00:05:32
But does this mean that those men can knock down all the houses? 00:05:36
The houses, the shops, the park. 00:05:42
The pond? 00:05:46
But that's ridiculous. 00:05:48
No, I'm not standing for this. 00:05:49
Destroy the pond? 00:05:52
They can't do this. 00:05:53
Oh, yes, we can. 00:05:55
And what's more, we're starting right now. 00:05:57
So you kids had better get out of the way. 00:06:00
Oh, I would hate for you to get hurt. 00:06:03
Okay, guys, let's get this show on the road. 00:06:08
Dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig. 00:06:12
What are we going to do, Simchun? 00:06:42
What are we going to do? 00:06:45
We're gonna fight back. 00:06:47
That's what we're gonna do. 00:06:49
We're gonna stop these people before they can destroy our town, our hopes, our dreams. 00:06:50
Oh yeah? 00:06:57
Ha ha. 00:06:58
Well, you can't. 00:06:59
And do you want to know why? 00:07:01
Because from now on, we control what goes on around here. 00:07:03
You don't have a voice anymore. 00:07:09
You hear me? 00:07:11
Read my lips. 00:07:12
You don't have a voice. 00:07:15
Ha, ha, ha, ha. 00:07:20
Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing can stop me now. 00:07:22
Symptom and the children do not know what to do. 00:07:40
Maybe it was time for Symptom to have a serious talk with Mother. 00:07:43
So, this Mr. Big is going to destroy everything and rebuild the whole town? 00:07:49
Even the pond has to go. 00:07:57
What? The pond? 00:07:59
But, but this is terrible. 00:08:02
You must say something. 00:08:06
Do something. 00:08:09
Who's going to listen to the voices of children? 00:08:11
Who will hear what we have to say? 00:08:15
Oh, believe me, when you guys get together, the whole town can hear you. 00:08:19
Look, children, it's getting late. You're tired and nobody's thinking straight. 00:08:26
So I suggest that you all go home and get some rest. 00:08:32
Yeah, right. Thanks, Mrs. Oskin. 00:08:39
Good night, Mrs. Oskin. See you tomorrow, Simten. 00:08:43
Good night, Simten. 00:08:46
Yeah, it's getting late. Good night. 00:08:48
Sim Tim, are you hungry? 00:09:00
Yeah, I'm hungry. 00:09:02
Supper will be on the table in 20 minutes, but we need bread and we need milk. 00:09:05
Could we go to the store and get them, please? 00:09:11
Yes, of course. And remember, 20 minutes. 00:09:14
Sim Tim goes straight to the store to buy the groceries. 00:09:20
but on our home she visits the pond and pauses for a few moments. This Mr. B 00:09:24
seems to have all the answers. He seems unstoppable. To solve this problem she's 00:09:31
going to need something special. One could almost say a touch of magic. But we 00:09:39
all know there's no such thing. Sadly symptoms stood up, gathered the 00:09:46
groceries and was just about to leave when she heard a noise. 00:09:53
Hello. Hello. Who's there? Come out so I can see you. If you don't, show yourself on screen. 00:10:01
My mother will be here in less than a minute. She's an Olympic athlete and a black belt in karate. 00:10:13
At that moment, the clouds parted to reveal the moon who shone her civilly ghostly light onto the happy scene. 00:10:27
As Cynthia's eyes adjusted to the gloom of the forest, she saw something which made her miss a bit. 00:10:45
For a moment she actually stopped breathing. Could this really be happening? 00:10:52
Was that half light playing tricks on her eyes? Could this be real? 00:10:57
The trees. The trees were actually moving. Moving and singing. 00:11:03
You have powers that distance me 00:12:20
Stay in one 00:12:27
Search for answers there among the reeds 00:12:31
Deep of the leaf 00:12:42
Heat of the leaf 00:12:59
And sleep 00:13:01
Sleep 00:13:04
And so, simply the day that the trees instructed her, she ate one of the magic leaves at the 00:13:07
edge of the pond and instantly fell into a deep, deep sleep. 00:13:44
As she slept, she had the strangest dream. 00:13:51
The tadpoles in the pond actually began to dance. 00:13:55
And in their dance, this tadpole ballet, they told an ancient tale. A tale of a little boy, a prince, who one day, hundreds of years before, had visited this very point with his servants. 00:14:00
As he was playing, he lost his balance, fell headlong into the water, and, being unable to swim, began to sink. 00:14:18
Before the frightened servant could react, the tiny tadpole submitted his one to his rescue and lifted him to the surface. 00:14:28
Cold, wet, but happy to be alive, he was taken back to the palace. 00:14:41
But before he left, he announced to his relieved servants that from that day forward, no one was able to damage or change the pond in any way. 00:14:49
When his father, the king, was told of what had happened, he said, 00:15:02
On this day I pronounce in the whole kingdom that this world shall henceforth be called the king's throne, and no harm must ever come to it. 00:15:07
He called for his tribe and his lawyer, and the king's proclamation was written down there and there for all to see. 00:15:25
From that very moment, the proclamation became law and was reserved in writing forever. 00:15:35
Simden awakes. She is confused, but she is excited. 00:15:48
Had she just been given some sort of message? 00:15:52
Could the incident with the little prince be true? 00:15:56
If it were true, then maybe, just maybe, 00:16:00
she could begin to make some sort of plan to try and stop Mr. Big and his awful plans. 00:16:04
Already an idea was beginning to form in her mind. 00:16:12
Ah, there you are. 00:16:19
Supper is ready. 00:16:22
Oh, I'm sorry, Mama. 00:16:23
I was looking in the pond and I forgot the time. 00:16:26
I guess I was busy. 00:16:29
That's why I'm late. 00:16:31
I'm sorry sorry mama hey hey stop barking you've only been gone 20 minutes I just thought I will 00:16:32
come and get you 20 minutes but yes 20 minutes but what oh nothing nothing meanwhile Mr. Big was 00:16:44
not happy. 00:17:02
I'm not happy. 00:17:04
And neither were the good people of Askenville. 00:17:05
What right has that man 00:17:09
to come here and do this? 00:17:10
Why can't he 00:17:13
and his engineers just leave us alone 00:17:14
and go away? 00:17:16
Yeah, I mean, who is he? 00:17:18
What is he? 00:17:21
Where has he come from? 00:17:22
That's a good point. 00:17:24
Where has this Mr. Big 00:17:25
come from anyway? 00:17:28
Do you think he's famous? 00:17:29
I think he's dangerous. 00:17:31
Him and his dreams and his big fancy ideas. 00:17:34
Dream and build and build and dream. 00:17:40
I wish he would take his dreams and his plans and go back to where he came from. 00:17:42
Mr. Big had heard that the townsfolk were starting to ask awkward questions, 00:17:48
so he gave an order to his engineers, his gangsters. 00:17:53
I don't like what I'm hearing. I don't need this. 00:17:58
I want those contracts signed, sealed and delivered, so get out there and do something, do anything, say anything, promise them anything. 00:18:01
Just build my town! 00:18:12
The engineers had to act quickly. They were running out of time, so they had to come up with something pretty spectacular. 00:18:16
I've got it. A party. 00:18:30
I am sorry? 00:18:33
I beg your pardon? 00:18:34
We'll organize a huge party. 00:18:36
That should do the trick. 00:18:40
We have to keep the town's folks and those annoying kids happy at all costs. 00:18:42
They must never know the truth. 00:18:47
Now, let's give these fools a party that they'll never forget. 00:18:50
Mr. Big, very soon this town will be yours. 00:18:55
All yours. 00:19:00
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. 00:19:02
Wow, am I too late for the party? 00:19:41
What's going on? 00:20:17
Boy, are we glad to see you. 00:20:19
Oh, Miss Chalik, the engineers are trying to bribe everybody. 00:20:22
They are promising free houses to everyone in the town. 00:20:27
They are thieves. 00:20:31
They are trying to steal everything. 00:20:33
Everybody is confused. Nobody knows what to believe. 00:20:36
Wow, wow. Slow down, slow down. 00:20:41
What's all this about? 00:20:44
It's that Mr. Big and his big plans. 00:20:46
Simpton told everyone about what happened at the pond and about her amazing dream. 00:20:50
When she had finished speaking, she looked at the others who were staring at her with mouths open wide. 00:20:55
Well, I think the story is true. 00:21:02
No, wait. I just know it's true. 00:21:05
Simpton, I'm no doubting you, but... 00:21:09
But what? 00:21:12
Who in their right mind would believe such a wild, crazy story? 00:21:14
Mr. Lick is right. We need evidence. 00:21:18
Hard evidence. 00:21:21
We need to find that real charter. 00:21:23
We must get our hands on the document. 00:21:25
Without the charter, we are powerless. 00:21:28
I have an idea. 00:21:31
The man you really need to talk to is Hermitius Inkpen. 00:21:32
He keeps all the historical records for the town. 00:21:36
If anyone can help you, he can. 00:21:40
I'll ring him and tell him that you would like to meet him and good luck. 00:21:42
Thank you, miss. 00:21:48
That's really helpful, miss. 00:21:50
Thank you for your help, miss. 00:21:52
We are really grateful, miss. 00:21:57
Thank you for coming, miss. 00:22:00
Was beginning to have doubts. 00:22:03
I'm beginning to have doubts. 00:22:12
He was just winning. 00:22:20
He had never tasted failure because he lied. 00:22:22
city, stove, and took people in order to get what he wanted. 00:22:25
He was a little man with big ideas. 00:22:30
I have big ideas! 00:22:34
And nobody, certainly not a bunch of kids, was going to spoil his party. 00:22:42
Nobody was going to ruin his dreams. 00:22:48
Look at me! 00:22:57
Look at me! 00:22:59
My friends, they'll remember the same. You, you, pay. Believe me, I'll make you pay. Ha, ha, ha, ha. 00:23:00
An angry, arrogant Mr. Big is just about to leave when he had the feeling that something very strange was starting to happen. 00:23:41
He thought he was alone, but now he wasn't so sure. What could it be? Who could it be? 00:23:53
As he tried to walk away, he realized, to his horror, that something was moving and blocking his path. 00:24:01
It was the trees! The trees were surrounding him! He was trapped! 00:24:07
We know your secret. Your plan will fail. 00:24:12
What's going on? Stop it! 00:24:17
Get out of town or you'll go to jail! 00:24:19
Stop it now! You don't frighten me! 00:24:21
But he was frightened, very frightened, and now the trees were closing in. 00:24:24
Before he would take another step, the trees had formed a tight circle around their prisoner. 00:24:30
Then they began to dance a very spooky dance and chant a very spooky chant. 00:24:36
We know your secret. Your plan will fail. Get out of town or you'll go to jail. 00:24:43
Meanwhile, the children are about to receive a visit. 00:25:09
Hello, my name is Mateo Sinkpen. I'm looking for a young lady called Simpton. 00:25:15
That's me. I'm Simpton. Very pleased to meet you. 00:25:24
Well, did you find the missing document? Did you bring it? 00:25:28
I think you had all better sit down. 00:25:33
Here in page 10, we must explain how, when he was a little boy, his grandfather would tell him the story of how the little prince fell into the pond. 00:25:37
Grandfather actually told Mateos that the tale was true and that it had been passed down from generation to generation. 00:25:51
Little Mateus asked if the royal charter still existed. 00:25:59
Grandfather said that it most certainly did, and that not only had he seen it himself, but he had even touched it with his own hands. 00:26:04
He then told Mateus he was sure, quite sure, that an important royal document would never be destroyed. 00:26:15
Then, you found it. Do you know where it is? 00:26:25
Sadly, I do not know where it is. 00:26:29
But you said it still existed. 00:26:32
I have looked everywhere, in every filling cabinet, in every cupboard and in every drawer in the town archives. 00:26:35
But I found nothing. 00:26:42
Are you sure you looked everywhere? 00:26:46
Maybe someone borrowed it and forgot to return it. 00:26:49
Believe me, I searched high and low. I promise you I looked everywhere, twice. 00:26:52
But that means... 00:26:58
That means that Mr. Big will win. 00:26:59
I'm afraid it looks that way. 00:27:02
But he can't win, he just can't. 00:27:04
He will get everything and that's not fair. 00:27:06
I'm afraid that life sometimes isn't fair. 00:27:09
Thank you. 00:27:13
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, your attention please. 00:28:28
Allow me to present to you the saviour of this town, the future of this town, a true giant of a man. 00:29:32
Mr. Montezuma Quasimodo Napoleon Caligula B. 00:29:41
Quasimodo, oh please. 00:29:51
Hey, shh. 00:29:54
Friends, because we are friends. I stand proudly before you today to say that I am a liar, a cheat, and a crook. 00:29:55
What did you say? 00:30:07
It's over, Beck. You're finished. You're all washed up. Your empire is in ruins. 00:30:09
I found it, Sinton. You are right all along. There was, there is, a royal charter, and she can't touch a single brick or a single blade of grass in this town. 00:30:15
You think you can learn, you think you can learn. I have the power to help you learn. Take a look at this place, call this town its head, so that they don't need to see us. 00:30:31
Look at me, go, look at me, leave 00:30:45
We met on my face, we met on my face 00:30:50
You are making a stupid mistake 00:30:53
You are playing a dangerous game 00:30:56
We can see that you are just a game 00:31:00
All you ever think about is you 00:31:07
Right where we were in this town 00:31:13
To the world, you're nothing but a prankster 00:31:15
You regret what you've just done 00:31:19
You have finished, you have failed 00:31:22
You're through, through, through, through 00:31:25
You did it! You finally beat Mr. Big at his own game! 00:31:30
You mean we did it? I couldn't have done it without you! 00:31:42
No, no, Simpton. The whole town owes a huge step of thanks. 00:31:47
Congratulations, young lady. What you did was quite amazing. 00:31:53
Thank you. I'm just glad it's all over. 00:31:58
Oh, before you go, may I ask you a question? 00:32:03
Where did you find the royal charter? 00:32:07
It was in my grandfather's toy box, right at the very bottom. 00:32:12
Heaven only knows how it got there. 00:32:16
And now can I ask you a question? 00:32:20
How did you know about the Royal Charter? 00:32:22
The tadpoles told me. 00:32:26
The tadpoles? 00:32:28
Yes, the tadpoles. 00:32:29
Kids, sometimes they say the strangest things. 00:32:31
Yeah, so do the tadpoles. 00:32:36
Who's there? 00:32:40
Who are you? 00:32:59
What do you want? 00:33:00
Please, whoever you are, you are frightening me. 00:33:02
Please stop. 00:33:07
Don't you recognize us? 00:33:09
We are your friends, the tadpoles. 00:33:12
Tadpoles? 00:33:16
But... 00:33:17
We have a gift for you. 00:33:19
A thank you gift. 00:33:21
A thank you gift? 00:33:22
I don't understand. 00:33:25
Surely it is I who should thank you. 00:33:27
Without you, this town would have been destroyed and all our lives would have been ruined. 00:33:30
And without you, our whole world would have been destroyed. 00:33:39
This little piece of nature would have disappeared forever. 00:33:44
Simpton, look into the tall weeds. 00:33:50
You shall find something there, something very special, something unique. 00:33:52
Is this... is this a crown? 00:34:00
It is indeed a crown. Your crown, Simpen. The crown is for you. 00:34:04
For me? But... but... I don't get it. 00:34:10
Simpen, in our darkest moments you were a beacon of light, at a time when the good people of this town were confused and embittered by lies and insincerity. 00:34:16
Yours was the lone voice of truth. You spoke and in the end the world listened. Now our world wishes to say thank you. 00:34:29
The flowers in this crown will remain forever fresh. They will never die as our love and respect for you will never die. 00:34:41
Sington, you shall always be remembered as our saviour and our princess, our Deadpool princess! 00:34:53
You may be small, you may not notice me 00:35:13
When I speak you may not hear 00:35:29
But I'll shout you and one day you will see 00:35:34
I speak my mind and have no fear 00:35:41
We do not own this world, we are the gods 00:35:46
Why to damage and to spoil? 00:35:50
We need to care for all that nature gives 00:35:58
Water and the sun 00:36:02
I have a voice and I shall use it 00:36:08
I have a message that I need to share 00:36:18
I want my voice to travel into all hearts 00:36:23
I want my song to travel 00:36:29
I've spelt notes over you 00:36:32
We soon forget what life is worth 00:36:49
Such priceless treasures 00:36:55
For what we do might 00:37:01
So let us cherish what we have around us, to find the silver in the evening star, to look for gold in every morning sunrise, to spread a song of hope both near and far. 00:37:05
I have a voice and I shall use it 00:37:30
I have a message that I need to share 00:37:38
I want my voice to travel into all hearts 00:37:43
I want my song to travel everywhere 00:37:50
I have a voice and I shall use it 00:37:54
I have a message that I need to share 00:38:01
