Hi kids! I'm Rocio and today we are going to learn about the ages of history. 00:00:00
But first, let's see how dates are written. 00:00:07
There are two different ways, B.C. and A.D. 00:00:11
B.C., before Christ, is for those dates that happened before the birth of Christ. 00:00:16
For example, the year 3000 before Christ. 00:00:23
A.D., Anno Domini, is for those dates that happened after the birth of Christ. 00:00:27
For example, this year, 2020. 00:00:33
Now, let's see the two main periods. 00:00:37
Prehistory, which involves all the time before writing. 00:00:41
And history, which involves all the years after people started to write. 00:00:45
History, at the same time, is divided into four periods. 00:00:50
Ancient History, the Middle Ages, the Modern Age and Contemporary History. 00:00:55
So, let's go with the first period, Prehistory. 00:01:02
Prehistory started with the first human beings on Earth, the Australopithecus. 00:01:07
From this period, there are no written sources. 00:01:13
Then, Ancient History started when people started to write. 00:01:18
In year 3000 B.C., more or less. 00:01:23
As you can see in the pictures, there were many different written languages then too. 00:01:27
But in year 476 A.D., the Roman Empire fell and disappeared, 00:01:33
which supposed the beginning of the Middle Ages, a time of knights and castles. 00:01:40
Almost a thousand years later, a man called Christopher Columbus set up a sea trip to the East. 00:01:46
But he took another route that ended in the discovery of America in 1492 A.D. 00:01:53
This event made a new period of history start, the Modern Age. 00:02:01
But the Modern Age was not so long. 00:02:07
In 1789 A.D., the French Revolution started, which involved a lot of violence and fighting in France. 00:02:10
And that was the beginning of the Contemporary History. 00:02:18
So, let's review the starting point of every age. 00:02:22
Prehistory, the first human beings. 00:02:27
Ancient History, writing. 00:02:31
The Middle Ages, the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 A.D. 00:02:34
The Modern Age, the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus in 1492 A.D. 00:02:40
And Contemporary History, the French Revolution in 1789 A.D. 00:02:46
I hope you like it. See you! Lots of kisses! 00:02:53
