Comparisons
00:00:00
We use the comparative form of adjectives to show the difference between two things.
00:00:12
Tom is taller than John.
00:00:22
Tom is a short adjective, so we add "-er to it. We include the word than after "-er to show the comparison.
00:00:25
Sara is happier than Mary.
00:00:33
Happy is a short adjective that ends in Y, so we change the Y into an I and add air to it. Don't forget to include that.
00:00:37
The house is more expensive than the car.
00:00:48
Expensive is a long adjective, so we only add the word more before it and the word than after it.
00:00:52
We use the superlative form of the adjective to express that something or someone is the most of a group.
00:01:01
Peter is the tallest boy in the class.
00:01:15
Tall is a short adjective, so we add "-ist at the end.
00:01:20
We also have to include "-te before the adjective to show that it is a superlative.
00:01:25
Ana is the happiest girl in her family.
00:01:31
Happy is a short adjective ending in Y, so we change it into an I, and not ist at the end.
00:01:37
We also include the word before it.
00:01:45
The house is the most expensive.
00:01:49
Expensive is a long adjective, so we only add the words the most before the adjective.
00:01:53
