Is there a period of history that you would like to go back to?
00:00:05
What kind of people would you be interested to meet?
00:00:09
I think I'd probably want to go back to the 1920s,
00:00:14
probably more so because it was a time when my grandmother,
00:00:17
my late grandmother, was a child.
00:00:21
In those days, she grew up not having plastic anything.
00:00:24
They would just go to the grocers and they'd buy fresh food regularly.
00:00:28
electricity wasn't normal in the way that it is now equally nor was having running water frankly
00:00:31
so I think I'd find that really interesting to see how that shaped the woman that she became and
00:00:39
maybe how that shaped who we are now maybe we could learn something from it I think it'd be
00:00:43
great to learn more about your ancestors and where you came from yes yeah definitely I grew up in the
00:00:48
1980s and um yeah i i i felt why on earth am i stuck here and i became really obsessed with the
00:00:57
1960s oh gosh now why can't i be living there instead of here so i think if i had the chance
00:01:04
to travel back in time that's where i'd go i think to experience some of the some of the culture and
00:01:11
go hang out at the cavern club with the beatles particularly the music and the writing and things
00:01:16
like that i bet it was but that would have been awesome i think it's interesting because those
00:01:21
are both sort of changing periods aren't they in time but I think I'd go even further back um I
00:01:25
used to really really be interested in the Tudors when I was at school um and I think there's a lot
00:01:31
going on politically with women being in power and Elizabeth I not getting married and I think
00:01:36
all the dramas and the books that you read about that period there's a lot of intrigue and plots
00:01:42
and things and to find out if it was really like that but I don't think you'd want to go you know
00:01:47
too close to it with the uncleanliness and disease and things that was around so maybe
00:01:52
kind of viewing from a safe platform yeah who would you like to speak to i think elizabeth
00:01:56
the first i did a dissertation on her and i think she's just so interesting i think that
00:02:01
will be fascinating do you know they're all periods of change particularly for women as
00:02:06
well weren't they yeah but i quite like your point about not getting too close
00:02:09
let me just observe history from a safe-ish distance and not have to live there for very long
