Good morning! Today's story is Room on the Room by Julia Donaldstone, illustrated by Axel Schoelfer. 00:00:00
The witch had a cat, meow, and a very tall hat, and long ginger hair, which she wore in a play. 00:00:14
How the cat purr and how the witch grinned 00:00:27
As they sat on their broomstick and flew through the wind 00:00:32
But how the witch wheeled and how the cat spat 00:00:39
When the wind blew so weakly it blew off the hat 00:00:45
Down! cried the witch 00:00:52
And they flew to the ground 00:00:56
They searched for the hat 00:01:01
But no hat could be found 00:01:04
Then out of the bushes 00:01:08
On Thundering Path 00:01:13
There bounded a dog 00:01:15
With the hat in his jaws 00:01:18
He dropped it politely 00:01:23
then eagerly said as the witch pulled the hat firmly down on her head I am a 00:01:28
dog as can as can be is there room on the broom for a dog like me yes cried 00:01:39
the witch and the dog clambered on the witch tapped the broomstick and whoosh 00:01:51
they were gone over the field and the forest they flew the dog wagged his tail 00:02:00
and the stormy wind blew the witch laughed aloud and held onto her hat but 00:02:15
away knew the bow from her long ginger plate down cried the weeds and they flew 00:02:25
to the ground they searched for the bow but no bow could be found then out from 00:02:35
a tree with a near splitting shrug there flap a green bird via via with the bow 00:02:42
in her beak she dropped it politely and bent her head low in a bowl I am a bird 00:02:49
as well as can be is there room on the broom for a bird like me yes cried the 00:02:58
witch so the bird fluttered on the witch taped the broomstick and was they were 00:03:08
gone. Over the reeds and the river they flew. The birds shrieked with glee 00:03:16
and the stormy wind blew. They shot through the sky to the back of beyond. The 00:03:34
The witch tied her bow but let go on the wand. 00:03:42
Down! cried the witch, and they flew to the ground. 00:03:48
They searched for the wand, but no wand could be found. 00:03:53
Then, all of a sudden, from out of a pond, leapt a dripping wet frog. 00:03:59
With a dripping wet wand, he dropped it politely, then said with a croak, 00:04:07
as the witch dried the wand on a flood of her clog. 00:04:15
I am a frog, as clean as can be. Is there room on the broom for a frog like me? 00:04:20
Yes, cried the witch, so the frog bounded on. 00:04:27
The witch tapped the broomstick and whoosh! They were gone. 00:04:33
Over the moors and the mountains they flew. 00:04:40
The frog jumped for joy and... 00:04:44
Crack! Crack! 00:04:48
The broom snipped in two. 00:04:59
Down fell the cat and the dog. 00:05:04
And the frog, down they went tumbling into a bog. 00:05:09
The witch's half-brown stick flew into a cloud, and the witch heard a roar that was scary and loud. 00:05:16
It has candy, and witch and chips for my tea. 00:05:25
No, cried the witch. 00:05:43
Flagging higher and higher, the dragon flew after her, breathing out fire 00:05:44
Help! cried the witch 00:05:55
She looked all around, but no help could be found 00:05:57
The dragon drew near and liked his lips 00:06:05
Say, maybe this once I will have witch without chips 00:06:10
But just as he planned to begin on his feast 00:06:18
From out of a ditch rose an horrible beast 00:06:25
It was tall, dark and sticky, unfit for it and far 00:06:28
It had four prideful heads, it had wings like a bird 00:06:33
And its terrible voice, when it started to speak, was a yowl and growl and a croak and shriek. 00:06:38
It tripped and squirtled as it stroked from the ditch. 00:06:48
And it said to the dragon, 00:06:53
Bastard! That's my witch! 00:06:56
The dragon drew back and he started to shake. 00:07:02
I'm sorry, he squirted. I made a mistake. It's nice to have meet you, but now I must fly. 00:07:09
And he spread off his wings, and it was off to the sky. 00:07:16
Then drought flew the bird, and down jumped the frog. 00:07:22
Down climbed the cat, and few saved the dog. 00:07:28
And thank you, oh thank you, the grateful witch cried. 00:07:33
Without you I had been in that dragon's inside 00:07:37
Then she filled up her cauldron and said with a grin 00:07:42
Find something, everyone, throw something in 00:07:52
So the frog, croc, croc, found a lily 00:07:56
The cat, meow, found a cone 00:08:00
The bird, pia, pia, found a twig 00:08:03
And the dog found a bone. 00:08:06
They threw them all in and the witch stirred them well. 00:08:11
And while she was stirring, she muttered a spell. 00:08:16
Iggety, siggety, saggety, zoom! 00:08:20
Then out rose. 00:08:24
A truly magnificent broom with seeds for the witch and the cat. 00:08:28
Meow! 00:08:34
And the dog, vroom, vroom 00:08:35
A nest for a bird, leo, leo 00:08:38
And a shower for the frog, frog, frog 00:08:41
Yes, cried the witch, moo, moo 00:08:45
And they all crammed on 00:08:49
The witch tapped the broomstick and whoosh! 00:08:52
They were gone! 00:08:56
The End 00:08:59
