Hi, I'm Anna and this video is to introduce myself a little bit. I hope it only takes like four minutes and not eight like the previous one. So let's try. 00:00:00
Well, I'm 34 years old. I'm turning 35 now in December. I'm from Galicia, from the north of Lugo, from a town called Viveiro. But I've been living here in Madrid for 17 years now, so I can say that I have been living here half of my life. 00:00:16
So I kind of feel from both places now, but my heart remains in Galicia. 00:00:35
I came to study architecture when I was 17 years old and I decided to come to Madrid 00:00:42
because my father and all his family are from Madrid and my grandmother was living in Madrid 00:00:50
so I could live with her. 00:00:57
I mean, I came here to, I was living with her during my whole degree that it took around six years. 00:01:01
In my fourth year, I went on Erasmus to Sweden. 00:01:11
Well, I went there for one whole year. 00:01:17
I was there for my academy year and when I was getting ready to come back to Madrid, 00:01:23
I was offered an internship in an architecture studio so I decided to stay 00:01:29
there for the summer there in Sweden in a city called Malmo yeah I think it was 00:01:35
in Sweden where I realized I didn't have a clue I didn't know how to speak in 00:01:44
English at all. I had been studying English for my whole life. I even had finished my studies at 00:01:51
official languages school back then, but I wasn't able to communicate myself in English. I mean, 00:02:01
it was a complete disaster. But, well, at the end of the year, I could express myself 00:02:09
express myself properly in English. I think it also helped to work there for the summer because 00:02:19
I was forced to communicate in a professional environment and not only with foreign students 00:02:29
so yeah it helped me a lot. Well after that I came back to Madrid, I finished my studies in 00:02:37
architecture and after that I started looking for a job and it was during that 00:02:45
was during the economical crisis period that hit especially hit the construction 00:02:52
sector so I realized that if I wanted to to find a job with good economical 00:03:01
conditions and well a good job I had to study something something else so I 00:03:11
decided to study a master in education to become a teacher but well I was 00:03:18
studying the master while I was looking for a job that I found finally found so 00:03:25
I didn't become a teacher but then I I started working in a engineering company 00:03:31
and after that I changed my job several times I was working also as a visual 00:03:39
merchandiser and after that I started working in several architecture studios 00:03:45
most of them focused on sustainability I mean sustainable construction that I 00:03:51
think well it's the part within architecture that I like the most 00:03:58
most because I don't think architecture is only about aesthetics but about a lot 00:04:04
of different issues like socio-economical issues nowadays especially about 00:04:13
recycling about the materials that we use that should be non-toxic should be 00:04:24
recycle recyclable yeah about this kind of thing so yeah I really loved my job 00:04:29
but I realized that I my free time was what I loved the most so I decided to 00:04:38
take the state exam to become a drawing teacher and so I did like one and a half 00:04:48
year ago and I passed the exam so now I'm a teacher, a drawing teacher. I teach 00:04:57
visual communication, technical drawing and also artistic drawing at high school 00:05:06
in Caravance. So this is a little bit about my life. I only wanted to say that 00:05:12
I think that I'm really rusty with my English especially with my conversation 00:05:19
skills because it's been a long time since I don't speak I mean last time I 00:05:27
took English classes was like seven years ago I got the TOEFL exam I thought 00:05:35
I had a B2 but after that I didn't study at all so my goal now is to 00:05:43
improve my communication and to express any idea that I want to express, to be able to 00:05:52
express any idea that I want in English and to have the resources to do that and on the 00:06:02
other hand to get the C1 title because I needed to be a bilingual teacher at high school. 00:06:09
