Rocks by Daniel, Ada, Aniel and Alonso 00:00:00
Vocabulary, rocks, lithosphere, genus rocks, magma, sedimentary rocks, sediments, layers, 00:00:17
metamorphic rocks. 00:00:34
Rocks, the lithosphere is the solid outer layer of the earth. 00:00:35
The lithosphere is made up of two layers, the crust and the mantle. 00:00:48
The upper layer is the crust, which is solid rock. 00:00:52
Underneath the crust we find the mantle, where it is hotter and rocks are more fluid. 00:00:56
Rocks are made of one or more minerals. 00:01:03
We can classify rocks in three types. 00:01:14
According to how they are formed, in genus rocks, sedimentary rocks, metamorphic rocks. 00:01:17
In genus rocks, in genus rocks are formed the solidification of solid magma. 00:01:24
Magma is a liquid and very hot rock that we can find deep inside the earth's crust. 00:01:38
Magma can cool down inside the earth's crust and form in genus rocks such as the granite. 00:01:46
This magma can also go up to the surface in a volcanic eruption. 00:02:02
This is called lava. 00:02:08
When the lava cools, it forms in genus rocks such as the basalt. 00:02:11
Sedimentary rocks. Sedimentary rocks are rocks made from sediments. 00:02:27
Sediments are the layers of rocks, sand, sandstone and remains of living things deposited over time. 00:02:32
Over a very long time, these sediments get compact until they form a rock. 00:02:48
Sometimes these sedimentary rocks have fossils of animals or plants. 00:02:54
Some examples of sedimentary rocks are luteum, clay or soil. 00:03:00
Metamorphic rocks. Metamorphic rocks started as igneous or sedimentary rocks. 00:03:15
Due to its pressure or heat, these rocks turned into metamorphic rocks. 00:03:21
Mable is a metamorphic rock that is formed when limestone changes due to heat or pressure. 00:03:27
Slate is also a metamorphic rock. 00:03:35
