Hello boys, girls, welcome to a new natural science lesson, Unit 4, Plants, Lesson 2, Reproduction. 00:00:00
How do plants reproduce? 00:00:08
Reproduction of plants. 00:00:13
There are two different types of plant reproduction. 00:00:16
On the one hand, sexual reproduction in seed plants, both in angiosperm with flowers and gymnosperms with cones. 00:00:19
On the other hand, we have asexual reproduction in non-seed plants, such as in ferns and mosses, which reproduce through spores. 00:00:32
Remember that all plants reproduce. 00:00:45
Now, let's learn about the different functions of the parts of a flower. 00:00:50
First, the corolla is made out of petals. 00:00:59
Second, the stamen is the male reproductive organ. 00:01:05
Third, the pistil is the female reproductive organ and finally the calyx is made of sepals. 00:01:12
The corolla attracts insects and the calyx protects the flower. 00:01:28
Pollination. 00:01:43
There are two different types of pollination. 00:01:44
first one is animal pollination. A bee transfers pollen from one plant to 00:01:47
another. Wind pollination. Wind transports pollen from one plant to another. Let's 00:01:57
now go through the different steps in the pollination process. Number one and 00:02:13
An insect takes pollen from a stamen to the pistil, it could also be the wind in the case 00:02:20
of wind pollination. 00:02:31
Number two, seed formation. 00:02:35
Inside the pistil, the pollen and the ovule make the seed. 00:02:39
Number three, fruit formation. 00:02:50
The petals fall off and the pistil grows into a fruit. 00:02:55
Number four, new plant. 00:03:06
The fruit falls from the ground and a new plant grows from the seed. 00:03:09
Remember that we need plants and plants need us. 00:03:20
Thank you very much for listening. 00:03:26
