Dr. Binox? Dr. Binox? Dr. Binox? 00:00:00
Oh, hello kids and welcome to my show. 00:00:17
Today, let's talk about plants. 00:00:21
Plants are very similar to humans. 00:00:24
And, just like humans have different body parts doing different things, 00:00:27
similarly, plants too have different parts for different functions. 00:00:32
Interesting, isn't it? 00:00:37
Let me tell you what the important parts of a plant are. 00:00:40
Leaves, bud, flower, stem, fruit and roots. 00:00:44
Let's take a closer look at the buds that protect the baby flower or the baby leaf.. 00:00:52
..from the harmful elements of nature. 00:00:58
This is a flower. 00:01:02
It is the most beautiful part of a plant. 00:01:04
It's usually colourful and attracts bees and other insects. 00:01:08
These are the leaves. 00:01:14
The leaf is one of the most important parts of a plant. 00:01:16
It has a green pigment called chlorophyll which absorbs the sunlight and makes food. 00:01:20
This is a fruit. 00:01:37
A fruit is a part of a plant that contains excess food and seed. 00:01:39
All fruits might not be sweet and edible, but is still a fruit. 00:01:45
And sometimes, they also help the plant to disperse their seed. 00:01:54
This is a stem. 00:02:00
A stem acts like a pillar of a plant. 00:02:02
It holds the plant upright and carries water, food and minerals to the parts of the plant from the roots. 00:02:04
The roots help to absorb water and minerals from the soil and also acts as an anchor. 00:02:13
When the winds are too harsh, the root makes sure that the plant stays firm in the soil and doesn't get carried away. 00:02:20
Did you know, 90% of the food that humans eat come from 30 species of plants. 00:02:29
But the earth has more than 80,000 species of edible plants. 00:02:35
So kids, why don't you rush to your garden and see the parts of the plant yourself. 00:02:43
Tune in next time for more fun facts. 00:02:49
This is me. 00:02:52
Tune in next time for more fun facts. 00:02:54
This is me zooming out. 00:02:57
