Here she is now, Ellen DeGeneres! 00:00:11
Hi everyone! I'm Ellen and tonight, as you all know, we have Marcia Jansson, a transgender woman, LGBT activist. 00:00:13
Do you remember your childhood as a happy period of your life? 00:00:22
My childhood was really happy until my youth arrived. 00:00:25
It was really hard to face so many bad comments about my appearance and identity, 00:00:28
but I managed to overcome them. 00:00:35
So, how do you describe yourself? 00:00:37
Well, that's difficult, but I must describe myself as a very persistent and helpful person. 00:00:41
Alright, that's great Marsha. Have you ever gone through a scary situation? 00:00:52
Of course. I suppose you all know the story about what happened in Stonewall Inn. 00:00:57
It was really, really, really scary. 00:01:04
Some of our viewers don't know about it. Could you please tell us? 00:01:06
Yes, of course. It all happened the night of the 28th of June in 1969. 00:01:09
LGBT people weren't allowed to enter in pubs except in the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village in New York. 00:01:14
We met there and had some bodies and that night the police arrived and told us that we should get naked in order to prove our gender. 00:01:23
There was the first night we didn't agree to get naked, so we started a revolution, and the next day there was the first gay pride in New York. 00:01:33
That's incredible. As you know, I'm a member of the LGBT community, and I'm really grateful for what you and many other people do. 00:01:45
Oh, thanks. I trust that nowadays youth can continue improving our society, and LGBT people can get the rights that they deserve. 00:01:52
Thank you, Marcia, for coming and sharing your story with us. 00:02:03
Thank you for having me. 00:02:07
Just let me love you tonight 00:02:15
I'll run, need time 00:02:26
