Good morning, my name is Alexander Fleming and today I'm going to tell you about my story. 00:00:00
I was born on August 6th in 1891 in Darwin, United Kingdom. 00:00:06
I'm a Scottish physician and microbiologist and I discovered the world's first broadly effective antibiotic substance. 00:00:11
I grew a mole named Penicillium and I found that it produced a substance that killed virus disease-causing bacteria. 00:00:18
After some months of calling that substance mold juice, on 1929, I decided to name penicillin. 00:00:25
In that year, in 1929, happened the Wall Street crash and the beginning of the Great Depression. 00:00:32
The Great Depression was an economic crisis that lasted through the 1930s, before World War II. 00:00:38
Now I'm going to explain you the Great Depression. 00:00:45
During the 1920s, many people invested their money in stocks. 00:00:48
stocks. For a few years, these stocks rose rapidly. However, in 1929, stock prices began to fall. 00:00:51
In October, they crashed and many people lost all the money they had. Many banks failed because 00:00:59
crowds of people tried to take out all their money at once. Factories and businesses closed 00:01:05
because people were not able to buy the goods they sold. 00:01:14
By 1932, about 12 to 13 million people were out of work. 00:01:18
The situation in the United States affected countries all over the world. 00:01:24
Hi, I'm Dira and today I'm going to talk about the Great Depression. 00:01:29
The Great Depression was the longest and most serious downturn ever experienced by the world economy. 00:01:32
Why was the Great Depression so important? 00:01:38
It caused enormous hardship for millions of people and the failure of a large fraction of national banks, businesses and farms. 00:01:40
What is the Wall Street crash? 00:01:48
The Wall Street crash was a major American stock market crash that occurred in 1929 to 1939. 00:01:51
How did the Great Depression end? 00:01:58
The Great Depression, in simple words. 00:02:05
The Great Depression was the worst economic downturn in history. 00:02:12
in the history, from 1929 to 1939. 00:02:17
How did they create the pressure? 00:02:30
When war began, factories consumed the produce. 00:02:37
tanks, airplanes, ships, guns and ammunition. Young men went to the army and people went 00:02:43
back to working factories. Other people give credit to new programs from the 1930s for 00:02:55
ending the depression who is alexander fleming and why he is important alexander fleming was a 00:03:05
scientist and he discovered the penicillin the penicillin was the first antibiotic 00:03:12
and it reduced the number of them and this is my present presentation bye 00:03:18
