Hello everybody, I'm here just like you at home and I'm a little bit bored so I was wondering 00:00:15
why don't I read a story from my kids because on the 23rd we're celebrating the International 00:00:24
Books Day and I chose one of my favourite stories in my house which is this one. It's 00:00:32
called The Snow Queen. Maybe you have heard of it. So I'm going to read it for you. I 00:00:38
hope you like it. All right, here we go. The Snow Queen. Long, long ago, and even farther 00:00:45
away, lived two best friends, Gerda and Kay. In all the world, no two friends were as close. 00:00:55
One crisp winter's day, Kay was crunching through the snow 00:01:03
when he saw a twinkling snowflake equal larger and larger 00:01:11
until suddenly it turned into a woman dressed in a sparkling white cloak. 00:01:17
The next second, she was gone. 00:01:24
Kay, the following afternoon, Kay was with Gerda when, ow! A sharp speck of ice flew 00:01:28
into his eye. From that moment, everything changed. Kay began teasing Gerda and ripping 00:01:38
out all her precious flowers. Then he made fun of people in the street. As each day passed, 00:01:46
He grew more and more horrible. 00:01:55
Whatever happened to Kay? 00:01:58
Gerda asked her grandmother. 00:02:01
Gerda's grandmother shook her head subtly and sighed. 00:02:03
I think he has been enchanted by the Snow Queen, she said. 00:02:07
After a while, Kay ignored Gerda altogether. 00:02:15
He only wanted to play outside in the snow. 00:02:20
His cheeks glowed and his eyes shone. 00:02:24
he never seemed to notice the cold 00:02:26
on the coldest day of the winter 00:02:29
the Snow Queen came for Kay 00:02:32
in a daze 00:02:34
he got hold of a sleigh 00:02:36
she commanded her snow white horse 00:02:38
in a voice sparkier than icicles 00:02:41
HOME 00:02:44
and they flew from the market square 00:02:45
Kay clinging on behind 00:02:49
the Snow Queen took Kay far 00:02:51
far away 00:02:56
There were pallets of ice in the frozen north. 00:02:57
Grey grew colder and colder and colder, 00:03:01
so cold he might have been carved from ice himself. 00:03:06
Week after week, he sat still as a snowman, 00:03:11
trapped in a room made from blocks of ice. 00:03:17
Soon, he completely forgot Goethe and everything in his old life. 00:03:20
But Gerda didn't forget Kay. 00:03:28
As the flowers started to bloom, she set off to look for him. 00:03:31
First, she followed the winding river. 00:03:37
When the river ran out, she left her boat and walked. 00:03:41
She walked for days and days, 00:03:45
until, lost and alone in a forest, she finally stopped. 00:03:49
A glossy black crow hopped up to her. 00:03:54
Caw! he croaked. 00:03:58
What's wrong? 00:04:00
I'm looking for my friend, she said. 00:04:02
There's no queen stole him. 00:04:05
A queen? croaked the crow. 00:04:07
Perhaps she's taken him to the pass by the lake. 00:04:10
Caw! I'll show you. 00:04:14
He lagged through sleeping halls where royal dreams glided past. 00:04:19
Try the robber's castle, they whispered 00:04:24
Take the golden coach outside 00:04:28
The robber's castle stood high on a hill 00:04:30
Stuck against the sky 00:04:35
Following a moonlit path 00:04:37
The golden coach rattled its way to the top 00:04:40
Inside the castle 00:04:43
Gerda told her story again 00:04:45
The Snow Queen lives in the frozen north 00:04:48
Said the robber girl 00:04:51
My reindeer can take you 00:04:53
The rubber girl watched them go, waving until Gerda and her reindeer were out of sight. 00:04:56
They had a long, hard journey ahead. 00:05:07
The air turned cold and stung Gerda's face like hail. 00:05:11
Her face went numb, but still it kept going. 00:05:17
At last, towering in the distance, she saw the Snow Queen's glittering pallets of ice. 00:05:21
In a wail of snowflakes, the queen's guards sprung at Gerda 00:05:28
As Gerda cried out, her breath formed into misty angels 00:05:35
Suddenly, they swooped down and attacked the palace guards 00:05:44
Gerda ran into the palace, calling for Kay 00:05:49
She put her hand over his frozen heart and it began to thaw 00:05:53
A warm tear melted the speck of ice in Kay's eye 00:05:58
and trickled down his cheek. 00:06:03
Gerda, he whispered. 00:06:06
Kay jumped up, sending blocks of ice flying. 00:06:09
The Snow Queen could only watch in icy fury 00:06:13
as Gerda and Kay fled, 00:06:16
leaving her chilly palace forever. 00:06:19
Back at home, Gerda's grandmother was overjoyed to see them. 00:06:25
I can't believe you escaped the Snow Queen, 00:06:29
she cried over and over again. 00:06:33
and she hugged them both tightly 00:06:35
as if she'd never, ever let them go. 00:06:38
And that's it. 00:06:43
I hope you have liked it. 00:06:45
I recommend this book to you. 00:06:47
It's called The Snow Queen 00:06:49
and I hope to see you very, very soon. 00:06:50
And until then, you know what I always say. 00:06:54
Stay safe. Bye bye. 00:06:58
Hola chicos, ¿qué tal estáis? 00:07:07
Tengo muchas ganas de ver Ollam. 00:07:10
Greetings to all of you, I hope you are all well. 00:07:12
Well, as you know, today is the day of the book, so we wanted to spend a little while with you 00:07:14
and that is why we are making these videos. 00:07:21
The reading that I have chosen to read with you is that of Mujercitas. 00:07:24
I'm sure some of you already know her, they also made a movie quite recently, last year, about her. 00:07:29
I saw this book a little while ago, they gave it to me for Christmas, I already knew the story, but I hadn't read it yet. 00:07:37
So I want to read with you a fragment of chapter 11, which is called The Experiment. 00:07:48
It's already June 1st. Tomorrow the 15 will go to the coast and I will be free. Three months of vacation, how am I going to enjoy them? 00:07:54
exclaimed Meg when she returned home, a day of heat. 00:08:03
Joe was lying on the sofa and seemed exhausted, something unusual in her. 00:08:07
Meanwhile, Beth took off her boots full of dust and Amy prepared lemonade for everyone. 00:08:12
Aunt Marge has left today. Be happy for me, Joe said. 00:08:18
I was afraid she would ask me to accompany her, because if I had done so, I would have felt obliged. 00:08:22
Plumfield is as fun as a cemetery, so I prefer to save myself the visit. 00:08:28
Josephine, you couldn't... 00:09:00
I didn't hear the end of the sentence 00:09:02
because I turned around and put my feet in powder. 00:09:03
I ran and didn't stop 00:09:07
until I bent the corner and felt safe. 00:09:08
Poor Joe. 00:09:12
He entered the house like a soul 00:09:13
that carries the devil, 00:09:14
explained Beth, 00:09:15
hugging maternally the feet of his sister. 00:09:16
Aunt Marge is a real zafiro, right? 00:09:19
observed Amy, 00:09:23
after tasting the lemonade with a critical air. 00:09:24
I suppose you mean vampire, 00:09:26
no que sea una joya. En todo caso, no importa. Hace demasiado calor para discutir cuestiones 00:09:28
lingüísticas, murmuró Yehud. ¿Qué vais a hacer durante las vacaciones? Preguntó Amy, 00:09:35
cambiando de tema prudentemente. Yo me levantaré tarde y no haré nada, contestó Meg, sentada en 00:09:40
la mecedora. He estado madrugando todo el invierno y he dedicado mis días a trabajar para otros. 00:09:48
Ahora me apetece descansar y pasarlo en grande 00:09:53
¡Vaya! dijo Joe 00:09:56
propuso Amy. 00:10:30
Si a mamá no le importa, yo no tengo inconveniente. 00:10:31
Quiero aprender algunas canciones nuevas 00:10:35
—You can try it for a week and see what happens. I think that on Saturday night you will have come to the conclusion that just playing is as bad as just working. 00:10:51
—Oh, no. I'm sure it will seem delicious to me, said Mej. Mej was delighted. 00:11:00
—Well, I propose a toast. As the good lady of Seirigamp says, more joy and less nonsense, exclaimed Joe, who stood up and raised the glass while they were serving another round of lemonade. 00:11:07
All of them were satisfied to start the experiment. They spent the rest of the day resting. 00:11:17
The next morning Meg did not wake up until ten o'clock. 00:11:23
Breakfast alone was not to her liking, and the dining room, in addition to being empty, looked careless, because Joe had not filled it with flowers. 00:11:26
Beth had not cleaned the dust, and Amy had left her books scattered around. 00:11:35
The only thing that remained pleasant and pleasant was the corner of Malmy, which kept its usual appearance. 00:11:40
Meg sat there to read and rest, although in reality she dedicated herself to embroidering and thinking about the beautiful dresses she would buy with her salary. 00:11:46
Joe spent the morning with Lori, in the river, and in the afternoon he saw with tears in his eyes a wide, wide world, entangled in the apple tree. 00:11:54
Beth began to order the contents of the large closet, where the family of dolls lived. 00:12:03
But soon he got tired and left everything, sleeve by sleeve, to go to touch his foot, happy not to have to wash any dishes. 00:12:08
Amy tidied up her mess, dressed in her best white suit, and sat down under the mother jungle to draw, in the hope that someone would see her and ask who that young artist was. 00:12:15
No one approached her, except a curious spider, who examined her work with interest and went for a walk. 00:12:27
A chaperone surprised her, and she went back home with her head down to her bones. 00:12:33
None of them wanted to admit that they were tired of the experiment, but on Friday night, all of them sighed relieved in secret, thinking that the week was about to end. 00:12:37
Mrs. March, who was in a very good mood, decided to take the lesson to the extreme and finish the experiment with an adequate ending. 00:12:49
Thus, she granted Hannah a day off so that the girls would know the result of a life system based on entertainment. 00:12:57
I hope you liked this fragment that I have read and that you want to continue reading the work. 00:13:05
The truth is that it is very interesting and very entertaining, it makes you have a very good time. 00:13:15
Well guys, I hope we can see each other soon, that we can say goodbye to the course in one way or another 00:13:20
and that you have a very nice day reading and doing the things you like. 00:13:27
See you soon guys, a kiss. 00:13:33
Hello guys, how are you? First of all, I want to tell you that I miss you all very much, 00:13:35
that I'm looking forward to going back to school and sharing with you great moments of laughter, 00:13:46
of enjoyment, and let's see if time passes quickly and we are together again. 00:13:51
Today is a very special day, it is the International Day of the Book and the teachers have wanted to give you a gift, 00:13:56
to share with you moments of reading, of works, books that we like or that mean something special to us. 00:14:02
Well, I have chosen a work that you surely know, which is Don Quixote de la Mancha, by Miguel de Cervantes. 00:14:12
I began to know this work when I was little, watching a series on TV of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza's adventures, 00:14:19
and cartoons, and I also read comics. 00:14:26
My parents bought me comics by Don Quixote and I read them and had a great time. 00:14:30
I arrived at the Institute and the literature teacher examined this novel. 00:14:36
I read it again a second time, without a deadline, to enjoy it because I liked it a lot. 00:14:40
And a third time, selecting the episodes and fragments that made me enjoy it more. 00:14:46
I'm going to share with you one that made me enjoy it a lot and that I hope you do too. 00:14:53
It's in the first part of the book, in the eighth chapter, and it goes like this. 00:15:00
From the good event that the valiant Don Quixote had in the frightful and never imagined adventure of the windmills. 00:15:05
In this they discovered 30 or 40 windmills in that field. 00:15:11
And just as Don Quixote saw them, he said to his scout, 00:15:15
The adventure is guiding our things better than we would have guessed. 00:15:18
Why do you see there, my friend Sancho, where thirty or a little more desperate giants are discovered, 00:15:22
with whom I plan to make a battle? 00:15:27
What giants! said Sancho. 00:15:29
Those you see there, replied his master, of the long arms, 00:15:32
which some of almost two lions usually have. 00:15:37
Look at your mercy, replied Sancho, 00:15:40
that those who look like them there are not giants, but windmills, 00:15:42
and what in them look like arms are the wings that, turned by the wind, make the stones of the mill walk. 00:15:46
—Well, it seems, Don Quixote, that you are not cross in this of the adventures. 00:15:52
They are giants, and if you are afraid, get out of there and pray in the space that I will enter with them in fierce and unequal battle. 00:15:57
And saying this, he gave spurs to his roaring horse, without listening to the voices that his wide scythe gave him, 00:16:05
warning him that, without a doubt, they were wind mills, and not giants, those that he was going to commit. 00:16:12
But he was so set on being a giant that he did not hear the voices of his scouts, Sancho, 00:16:19
nor did he take a look, although he was already very close, at what they were. 00:16:24
Before he was saying in loud voices, 00:16:28
Don't flee, cowards and vile creatures, that not a single knight is the one who will commit you. 00:16:31
He raised a little wind in this, and the great wings began to move. 00:16:37
And he entrusted himself wholeheartedly to his lady Dulcinea, asking her to help him in such a trance. 00:16:41
Well covered with his skirt, with the spear in his wrist, he threw all the blows of Rocinante, 00:16:50
and he swung with the first mill that was ahead. 00:16:55
And giving him a throw in the ash, he turned the wind with so much fury that he threw the spear into pieces, 00:16:58
carrying behind him the horse and the knight, who were rolling very badly across the field. 00:17:04
Sancho Panza came to help him, to run away from his asthma, and when he arrived, he found that he could not move. 00:17:10
Such was the blow that he gave him with the rociner, 00:17:17
Sancho said, I swear to God, I did not tell him at your mercy that he looked well what he was doing, 00:17:20
that they were nothing but windmills, and he could not ignore it, but that he carried other such in his head. 00:17:25
Quiet, my friend, Sancho, quiet, said Don Quixote. 00:17:31
From the whole book I have chosen to read you a chapter about a very special character, Tom Bombadil. 00:19:01
It is chapter 7 of the Community of the Ring, the first volume of the book. 00:19:10
At Tom Bombadil's house 00:19:15
The four hobbits broke the wide stone threshold and stopped, blinking. 00:19:20
The room was long and low, illuminated by some lamps that hung from the beams of the 00:19:27
low sky, and in the dark and polished wooden table there were many high and yellow candles 00:19:32
of bright flame. 00:19:38
In the opposite end of the room, looking at the front door, a woman was sitting. 00:19:39
The blond hair fell in long waves on her shoulders. 00:19:46
She was wearing a green tunic, green like young canes, splashed with silver beads 00:19:50
like drops of dew, and the belt was of gold, carved like a chain of azucenas, and adorned with eyes 00:19:55
of, do not forget me, blue and light. At her feet, in ceramic vases, brown and green, 00:20:03
some lilies of water floated, so that the woman seemed enthroned in the middle of a pond. 00:20:09
Go ahead, my good guests, he said, and the hobbits knew that it was that clear voice 00:20:16
over the lyrical fountains and ran laughing at them, and while they ran, the green tunic 00:20:49
whispered like the wind in the flowering rivers of a river. 00:20:55
Come, dear friends, said she, taking Frodo by the hand. Laugh and rejoice. I am 00:20:59
Goldbeard, daughter of the river. He quickly passed before them, and having closed the 00:21:06
The hobbits looked at her astonished and she observed them at the same time, one by one, smiling. 00:21:34
Beautiful lady of gold, said Frodo at last, feeling in his heart a joy that he could not understand. 00:21:42
He was there, motionless, as he had been other times listening to the beautiful voices of the elves, 00:21:50
but now the enchantment was different, less pungent and less sublime, 00:21:56
Frodo fell suddenly, blabbering, surprised to hear those words, but go 00:22:31
from gold river. 00:22:39
Welcome, he told them, I had not heard that the people of the region were of such a sweet language, 00:22:40
but I understand that you are a friend of the elves, so they say in the light of your eyes and the timbre 00:22:47
of your voice. A happy meeting, sit down and wait for the lord of the house, it will not take long, 00:22:52
attending to your tired animals. The hobbits sat down pleased in 00:22:59
some low chairs of mimbre, while Goldbeard was occupying around the 00:23:05
table, and their eyes still with delight the fine grace of the movements of 00:23:09
the young woman. From somewhere behind the house came the sound of a song, from 00:23:15
when in when they could hear, among many, Dorridol, Alegredol and Tocaun 00:23:21
Don Diló, some words that were repeated. The old Don Bombadil is a simple subject, 00:23:27
with a bright blue jacket and yellow shoes. I hope that this short introduction to this 00:23:34
chapter will help you to arouse interest in reading and this type of books. 00:23:42
Greetings and I hope to see you soon. 00:23:48
