When Portugal rejected his expedition, Colón asked the Spanish monarchs.

Although Fernando was not very convinced, Isabel liked the idea so the Reyes Católicos

gave Colón everything he needed to start the trip.

On the 3rd of August of 1492, Colón left Huelva.

He arrived to the new continent on October the 12th.

He traveled with three caravels called La Niña, La Pinta and La Santa María.

When Spain conquered most of the American continent, it became the most powerful empire

The Spanish brought coffee and horses to America and they took potatoes, tomatoes, cocoa and
