1902. Alfonso XIII, son of Alfonso XII, was proclamated king. 00:00:02
During his reign, social and political conflicts in Spain happened. 00:00:15
Strikers organized by labor unions took place due to the poor working conditions. 00:00:20
The nationalists in Catalonia, Galicia and País Vasco demanded more autonomy. 00:00:26
And the war in Morocco where many Spanish soldiers died and Spain lost territories in North Africa. 00:00:31
There were many conflicts between workers and employers. 00:00:38
Employers hired mercancy to take down the leaders of the workers. 00:00:42
And the workers attacked the nobility and the bureaucracy. 00:00:46
King Alfonso XIII was shot with a bomb. 00:00:50
This period is known as Epoca del Pistolerismo. 00:00:53
Taking advantage of the social and political conflicts, General Primo de Rivera led a coup in 1923. 00:00:58

Primo de Rivera established a military dictatorship. 00:01:16
