We are learning about electricity and inventions. In this video, we will cover the components of 00:00:00
electric circuits, the types of electric circuits, and how to represent electric circuits. A circuit 00:00:13
is a complete path around which electricity can flow. An electric circuit 00:00:30
is a closed loop or a circle. Electric circuits contain components. Electric 00:00:38
circuits have four components. A generator, cables, switch, and light bulb. 00:00:51
Let's look at these parts in the image. We have our generator, the socket, then we 00:01:02
have the cable. Next we have the switch. It turns the circuit on or off. Finally 00:01:16
we have the light bulb. It makes light when the switch is on and the circuit is 00:01:31
running correctly. So we've got our generator, the socket, our cable, switch, 00:01:39
and light bulb. Electric circuits. There are three types of electric circuits. There is a simple 00:01:49
circuit which has one light bulb and forms a circle. Electricity flows along one path. Then 00:02:06
Then we have the series circuit. 00:02:19
Two or more light bulbs are connected to one battery. 00:02:22
Electricity flows along one path. 00:02:28
Then we have the parallel circuit. 00:02:35
It forms two or more circles or paths. 00:02:38
Representing electric circuits. 00:02:47
We use symbols to represent the components of an electric circuit. 00:02:51
Here we have the symbol for a light bulb or lamp. 00:03:01
This shows a switch that is off. 00:03:07
You see the line is not connected to the circle. 00:03:10
This shows a switch that is on. 00:03:15
It is all connected. 00:03:18
we have our symbol for a battery and this line represents a wire. We can 00:03:21
easily identify the components and the type of circuit. Let's use the symbols to 00:03:32
identify the components of this circuit. This symbol represents the light bulb. 00:03:40
This symbol represents the switch and the switch is off. The line is not 00:03:52
connected to the circle. This symbol represents the battery and the line 00:04:07
represents the wire. Okay this is all for today. Until next time, goodbye! 00:04:19
