We have chosen the artist that gives name to our school, Daniel Vázquez Díaz, and a museum located in the town where he was born.

The Daniel Vázquez Díaz Museum, also known as the Modern and Contemporary Arts Centre Daniel Vázquez Díaz, is a cultural institution based in Nerva, in the province of Huelva.

The permanent collection highlights Vázquez Díaz's distinctive cubist-influenced style with landscapes, portraits and intimate scenes that capture the essence of early 20th-century Spanish art.

Daniel Vázquez Díaz was born in 1882. He enjoyed painting and drawing since he was a young boy.

As an adult he traveled to Paris, France. Here he learned new ideas about modern art.

He learned from painters like Saxon and Cupid when he lived in Paris. These ideas helped him create his own style.

He painted many portraits which are pictures of people. The collection called Hombres de Mi Tiempo includes important works, artists and famous figures of his time.

His portraits often show calm, serious faces and strong shapes.

He also painted landscapes and other scenes of everyday life using simple shapes and modern

styles, inspired by BQBism and classical art.

One of his biggest projects was a set of large wall paintings called murals at the monastery of La Ravida Huelva.
