We have chosen the artist that gives name to our school, Daniel Vázquez Díaz, and a museum located in the town where he was born. 00:00:15

The Daniel Vázquez Díaz Museum, also known as the Modern and Contemporary Arts Centre Daniel Vázquez Díaz, is a cultural institution based in Nerva, in the province of Huelva. 00:00:25

The museum exhibits Daniel Vázquez Díaz's work together with creations by other modern artists. 00:00:40

The permanent collection highlights Vázquez Díaz's distinctive cubist-influenced style with landscapes, portraits and intimate scenes that capture the essence of early 20th-century Spanish art. 00:00:51

His daughters can explore his work at the local experiencing the rich artistic legacy of this influential Guelva-born painter. 00:01:08

Daniel Vázquez Díaz was born in 1882. He enjoyed painting and drawing since he was a young boy. 00:01:22

As an adult he traveled to Paris, France. Here he learned new ideas about modern art. 00:01:35

He learned from painters like Saxon and Cupid when he lived in Paris. These ideas helped him create his own style. 00:01:47

He painted many portraits which are pictures of people. The collection called Hombres de Mi Tiempo includes important works, artists and famous figures of his time. 00:02:00

His portraits often show calm, serious faces and strong shapes. 00:02:18

He also painted landscapes and other scenes of everyday life using simple shapes and modern 00:02:28

styles, inspired by BQBism and classical art. 00:02:35

He used set simple shapes and soft colours like grey, brown and blue. 00:02:42

One of his biggest projects was a set of large wall paintings called murals at the monastery of La Ravida Huelva. 00:02:52

These are large murals, stories about Christopher Columbus. 00:03:02

This year we learned how to use watercolors and different techniques. 00:03:39

We've selected different paintings by Vesquis Díaz and created our own version of them. 00:03:47

Throughout this project, we have learned about Daniel Vázquez Díaz and his work. 00:04:26

At the same time, we have improved our English and learned new concepts and vocabulary related to art. 00:04:33
