I wanted to make this video to first of all say hello, say that I hope you're all doing 00:00:07
well, but also to say goodbye to you. 00:00:12
I would have liked to say goodbye in person, that would have been ideal, but unfortunately 00:00:15
the situation in the world and in Spain right now doesn't allow for that, so I hope that 00:00:21
this video will suffice for that as a stand-in. 00:00:25
Where to even begin with this year we've had? The classes that I've had with you for all of my second of Bachirato students have been so clarifying and transformative for me as a language assistant, and I am so, so thankful for all of you. 00:00:29
we have had a lot of critical discussions we've had a lot of serious discussions about important 00:00:48
topics we've talked about racism we've talked about feminism we've talked about the history 00:00:54
of thanksgiving we've talked about gun violence we've talked about gun control the list goes on 00:01:00
and on we've been able to have those serious discussions and i so value your open minds and 00:01:06
your ability and willingness to challenge your own beliefs that you've been raised with 00:01:14
and to try to expand your awareness in this space. That's something that's not easy to do and I don't 00:01:19
take it lightly at all. I am so thankful and really in awe of your ability to question these truths 00:01:26
that you've been raised with and to discuss them critically in a classroom setting. I also really 00:01:34
appreciate your engagement, your awareness, your knowledge that you were bringing to the class, 00:01:40
and your willingness to not only listen actively and take in information, but also your willingness 00:01:46
to think critically about that information and then ask questions that were sometimes even 00:01:54
difficult for me to answer. You were asking really important questions about why things are the way 00:02:00
we are and why we do things the way that we do them both in the United States and in Spain and 00:02:05
the world as a whole and I'm so so thankful for that your ability as individuals and as a class 00:02:11
to engage in thoughtful and respectful discussion is something that I am still so grateful for it 00:02:18
is not something that's easy and yet even when some of you did not share the same opinion you 00:02:26
had different beliefs about things, I feel so thankful that we were able to create a space 00:02:31
together as a class that was open to discussing those differences in experiences, beliefs, 00:02:37
and ideas overall. I really don't have the words to fully express how thankful I am for all of you, 00:02:43
how important of an experience this has been for me, and how much you all have taught me, 00:02:50
but i'm doing the best to do that in this video i am truly so thankful to have met you all and to 00:02:56
have been able to have the real discussions that we've had in class together and i'm thankful not 00:03:03
only for these sometimes heavier more difficult and real classes that we had but also for some 00:03:09
of the fun classes that we had together i loved talking about new year's eve and traditions around 00:03:14
the world i love talking about conspiracy theories with all of you it really has all been great and 00:03:20
I could not be more thankful for the year that we had, even if it got cut off a bit sooner than 00:03:26
any of us thought it would. I know that you all are moving on into a different space of your lives. 00:03:31
You're all going to be going off and doing new things and having new experiences. 00:03:39
I just want you to know that it has been such a pleasure and a privilege really to be able to 00:03:43
share this space with you. I wish you nothing but the best and I have so much faith that you 00:03:49
are going to go on and do great things. I hope that you all have amazing summers and I wish you 00:03:54
