Hello, friends. Today, we're going to continue learning about the Sustainable Development Goals. 00:00:00
It's time for number 12, Responsible Consumption and Production. So, here we go. 00:00:07
Consumption and production happen all over the planet and depend a lot on natural resources. 00:00:14
This means that they also depend on the environment, too. 00:00:21
Today, production and consumption have destructive effects on the planet. 00:00:25
which is why it's so important to promote sustainable production and responsible consumption by everyone. 00:00:32
There has been a lot of economic and social progress over the last 100 years, 00:00:41
but it has damaged the environment and endangered the natural resources that we need to survive. 00:00:47
For this reason, the United Nations has set environmentally responsible production and consumption 00:00:53
as a key sustainable development objective. 00:01:00
Let's take a look at some data to understand what is happening. 00:01:04
If we continue to consume at the current uncontrolled rate, 00:01:09
by the year 2050, we will need three times the natural resources available on planet Earth. 00:01:13
Unbelievable! We must put a stop to this. 00:01:21
Every year, even though hunger is one of the biggest problems in the world, 00:01:27
One-third of all food is wasted. 00:01:32
You heard right. One-third. It makes no sense. 00:01:36
In addition, energy use continues to grow, and both businesses and houses depend on it daily. 00:01:41
Did you know that between 1990 and 2020, CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions increased by 50%? 00:01:49
Yes, by 50%. 00:01:58
This is why it is important to use sustainable and renewable energy sources, and to promote 00:02:01
responsible consumption of both the energy and the resources the Earth gives us. 00:02:10
Some of the international community's goals to solve this problem are to cut food waste 00:02:17
in half, promote environmentally friendly waste management, and reduce the use of fossil 00:02:22
fuels such as coal and oil. 00:02:30
To achieve this, it's super important to give people the tools to promote sustainability. 00:02:34
It's also important to help developing countries grow in their scientific and technological 00:02:40
capacity so that they can have more responsible consumption and production patterns. 00:02:46
For all these reasons, achieving more responsible production and consumption requires an effort 00:02:54
from all administrations, and from all of us as a global community. 00:03:00
I have some ideas of things that we can all do to help. 00:03:06
For example, we can buy seasonal and local foods so that they don't travel from far 00:03:10
away. 00:03:16
This helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the vehicles that transport them. 00:03:18
We can also use energy-saving light bulbs. 00:03:23
In addition to taking care of the environment, we'll save money on the electricity bill. 00:03:27
Also, we must be very careful to recycle correctly and avoid wasting water. 00:03:32
Natural resources are not infinite, and it's up to us to preserve them. 00:03:40
Can you think of any other ways to help make production and consumption responsible? 00:03:45
This is the age for humans to live. Let's see what habit they have now. 00:03:49
I am a bad consumer. 00:04:24
I never think of the life when I live. 00:04:30
I don't like buses. My car is better. 00:04:42
I don't care about using too much paper. 00:04:48
There are a many cups. I don't have to leave. 00:04:51
To come, I have to buy this. It's very cheap. 00:04:59
Even this is not. It's only has six are paper and plastic. That is ok. 00:05:20
I put all the weights in the same container as this one. 00:05:29
That was it! Go for the Earth! 00:05:59
Let's see what good habits they should adopt. 00:06:11
I don't need links on if I'm not in a room. 00:06:21
I feel great riding the bus or walking. 00:06:31
I don't need a new sheet of paper, I can use this old one. 00:06:42
When it's warm, I open the window. 00:06:57
I donate two hands and three clothes. 00:07:01
I buy natural food without packaging. 00:07:24
I separate my feet from their arms. 00:07:29
