Video about the different health problems and diseases that can affect our body.
Hello, today we are going to study about health and disease.
00:00:00
They are on pages 64 and 65 of the Natural Science book.
00:00:05
First, we have to understand what is the meaning of health.
00:00:11
We can have physical health or mental health, which is also very important.
00:00:15
Physical health means the proper functioning of the body's organs and systems.
00:00:21
when we have problems they can be caused by diseases or illnesses which are the same or on
00:00:26
the other hand by injuries and they are usually shown through symptoms the symptoms like for
00:00:34
example runny nose or coughing or when you have fever or sneezing or other kind of symptoms they
00:00:42
are going to help us to detect that we have a problem or a disease. We are going
00:00:54
to continue with the different types of diseases. Depending on the agent we can
00:01:02
find infectious or non-infectious diseases. Infectious diseases are
00:01:07
produced when an infectious agent enters the body. Depending on the agent we can
00:01:14
find the ones caused by virus or microscopic organisms like bacteria,
00:01:20
fungi or protozoa. They are quite different between, as you know, virus
00:01:26
cannot be treated with antibiotics and on the other hand bacteria or some of
00:01:33
them can be treated with antibiotics. They are also different
00:01:37
because the virus doesn't have a cell and the bacteria are unicellular.
00:01:43
unicellular so the virus are not real cells they are just they are not living
00:01:49
and they can only infect different cells of the living things of other living
00:01:56
things causing diseases we also classify infectious diseases into contagious and
00:02:01
non contagious the contagious diseases are the ones that can be transmitted
00:02:08
from a sick person to a healthy person and on the other hand non-contagious cannot be transmitted
00:02:15
between a healthy person and a sick person sorry the opposite between a sick person and a healthy
00:02:22
person and finally the non-infectious diseases are the ones that are caused by other factors
00:02:29
not the infectious agents but we are going to study them on another presentation
00:02:36
Finally, we're going to finish with some examples of infectious diseases that we have read about
00:02:41
in the book.
00:02:49
We have, for example, the cold and the flu, which have similar symptoms, for example,
00:02:50
runny nose, coughing, sneezing, but they also are different.
00:02:57
For example, a flu, you can have fever for high temperature and in the cold, it's not
00:03:03
very typical to have fever.
00:03:11
On the other hand, we also have chickenpox, which in Spanish means varicella, in which
00:03:14
you also can have fever and you have spots covering the whole body, over the skin.
00:03:20
also can find a tetanus infection which is caused by the cat with a dirty metal
00:03:27
and finally a gastroenteritis which is it's also caused by a bacteria or a
00:03:33
virus and it can produce stomach ache and vomit so here are just some
00:03:40
examples that can appear in the exam and well I hope that I have helped you
00:03:47
with this presentation and see you in the next one.
00:03:53
Bye.
