So, um, would you mind if we interview you a bit? 00:00:00
Are you videoing or photoing? 00:00:07
Oh, okay, because I was like, well, I like long walks in the park. 00:00:09
Okay. 00:00:14
So, as a comedy actress, where is it easier for you to act, in Spain or Canada? 00:00:15
And which audience is better, the Canadian or Spanish? 00:00:21
Okay, so in fact, when I lived in Canada, I wasn't acting and I wasn't a comedian, 00:00:23
so I just do it here. 00:00:28
and a lot of the comedy that I do on the weekends and stuff has a big expat community. 00:00:30
So there's, I like a bit of both. 00:00:37
I like to have a mix because what's nice about having Spanish people there 00:00:39
is they get to experience English in a different way. 00:00:43
And then if I have expats there, they can understand all the jokes 00:00:46
because we, sometimes the jokes have to do with pop culture 00:00:50
or things that you know from your age that you were born 00:00:54
or the movies that you watched. 00:00:58
So I like to have a mix of both. 00:01:00
And who were you supported by to be an actress? 00:01:03
And what did he or she say to support you? 00:01:07
I suppose my really close friends have always been really supportive. 00:01:10
And the high school that I used to work in, 00:01:15
I worked in a high school for three years in Mostolas. 00:01:17
And they were always very supportive. 00:01:20
My colleagues and my sisters definitely have always been on my team. 00:01:23
And they basically just keep me going. 00:01:28
Okay, so with being an actress, your initial vocation or maybe a second option that you ended up choosing based on how life turned out to be? 00:01:33
Exactly, that's exactly what happened. 00:01:43
So I liked entertainment, but I wasn't really good at public speaking. 00:01:45
so I went into teaching and through teaching I became confident because we're always in front 00:01:51
of groups and we're always having to adapt to different people and situations so I actually 00:01:58
got my confidence through teaching and then it kind of just I turned into an actor I liked using 00:02:04
comedy in the classroom and all the classes started becoming like drama you know so I was 00:02:11
like why why don't I just do shows so I started teaching through shows yeah well 00:02:17
so I was going to ask you are you a shy person or is it really difficult for you 00:02:24
to take a script seriously sometimes okay so I'm not a shy person and I don't 00:02:29
have any verguenza which is good and bad right I mean would be good to have a 00:02:34
little bit of I do have a little bit I feel silly sometimes and you know but 00:02:39
for the most part I feel quite confident and what was the second part of the question? Is it really 00:02:44
difficult for you to take tasks seriously? Okay so I was telling students this earlier is that I write 00:02:51
my own scripts and there's actually no scripts so this shows and there's nothing in writing 00:02:57
it's just in my mind and so sometimes every show is different it depends how much the audience is 00:03:02
interacting with me but yeah I generally don't follow a script I have I know what I want to 00:03:08
talk about, but it's not stripped. What advice would you give to those who don't dare to go 00:03:14
chase their dreams? I think that slow and steady wins the race. So if there's something that you 00:03:24
want, just take it step by step. I know you say that a lot in Spain, poco a poco or whatnot, but 00:03:30
try not to look at the big picture and don't be attached to an end result. Just take it day by day 00:03:35
and also be willing to listen to what's happening around you too 00:03:42
because sometimes there's things that we want 00:03:46
so we're so focused on it 00:03:49
that we might not see other things that are equally good 00:03:51
so I would say take it day by day 00:03:54
try to be in the moment 00:03:57
and don't be attached to a specific outcome 00:03:58
Would you like to perform any plays in Spanish? 00:04:02
You know what, I have a play right now that's bilingual 00:04:06
in Lava Pies, in La Escalera de Jacobo. 00:04:09
It's the part two to the box, 00:04:14
and it's called Knock, Knock, Soy Yo. 00:04:16
So it's half Spanish, half English, 00:04:18
and it's to show people that 00:04:21
you don't have to speak perfect to be understood, 00:04:23
because I think it's really important 00:04:28
for everyone to just speak, 00:04:29
even if we're not speaking perfect. 00:04:33
Is there any play that you would like to perform in particular? 00:04:36
um here's the thing i've never been in someone else's play i've only ever written them myself 00:04:39
so i don't always see myself as uh uh an actress i feel like an entertainer comedian i tend to play 00:04:46
myself but just in like exaggerated ways so i don't know about playing someone else's plays 00:04:55
i would definitely love to do like saturday night live do you know what that is it's like short 00:05:02
sketch shows i would love to be involved in something like that did you prefer acting alone 00:05:08
or with more people um both the thing about being by yourself it's easy because then you just work 00:05:17
around your own schedule but when you work with someone else there's a lot more room to play 00:05:24
and then it's a lot more uh of a feels more like a show and less of a presentation so i have a show 00:05:29
that I do right now for for children with another actor and it's fun because then you get a commute together and 00:05:37
So it's nice to have both 00:05:43
Thank you guys, thank you so much for coming. Have a wonderful day 00:05:50
