Hello everyone. This is the video I have done to present my learning situation. It is called
00:00:00
a commitment with nature and it is based on the third year of secondary education. It
00:00:13
is all prepared and done for you guys to gain consciousness about the environment and become
00:00:19
aware of the problems and consequences of natural disasters. In order to do this I prepared an
00:00:26
introduction for my students to know and become aware about these two famous well-known natural
00:00:35
disasters in the history of the world. One is the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan in the year
00:00:43
2011 and the one that I'm going to base my learning situation on is the disaster that happened in the
00:00:50
Aral Sea in Uzbekistan. The objectives I want my students to reach are the following. First of all
00:01:01
to make research on the different natural disasters that may have happened before in
00:01:11
the history. Second, they will have to choose the natural disaster they are interested in in order
00:01:17
to show it to the class to present, to make a PowerPoint presentation and explain everything
00:01:28
related to that natural disaster. Then they will have to design a kahoot about that natural
00:01:35
disaster to play in the classroom. How are we going to organize this learning situation? Well, you guys
00:01:42
will be organized in groups of four. You will have to divide information that you want to explain
00:01:51
and then you will have to speak in front of the class, propose your final point out, final
00:01:57
commitment, the solution to the problem, to the disaster. And then you will have to prepare the
00:02:04
kahoot to play with your classmates. The timing I am going to devote for this learning situation
00:02:09
is around seven sessions in total. That would be one week and a half, so each activity won't take
00:02:17
more than one or two sessions. I'm going to evaluate the most important, your attitude, participation,
00:02:28
your interest and especially your work. And I will focus especially on your written and oral expression.
00:02:37
In order to evaluate, to mark your activities, I designed my own marking notebook, which is
00:02:43
based on the following marking criteria. You will have items to evaluate tasks and tests. These
00:02:55
would be distributed like this. The most important item that I will evaluate will be the research,
00:03:03
the task, which is the main task, the kahoot, and the test will be the PowerPoint presentation.
00:03:10
And the marking criteria is the following. Your research will be 30% of the total mark,
00:03:17
the main task, which is the kahoot, another 30%, and the test, which is based on the PowerPoint
00:03:27
presentation, will be 40. A total of 40 divided in your oral expression, 20, and your written expression,
00:03:33
another 20%. And now I'm going to explain the activities that you will have to do.
00:03:40
So this is the introduction. In the introduction you can see all the steps you have to follow,
00:03:48
with a special attention to the refuel activity, which will be optional only for the students who
00:03:55
had problems in the first activity. So each activity has a number. If you click on number one,
00:04:01
you will watch the video about the RLC disaster, and then the second activity is based on a quiz
00:04:14
where you guys will have to practice the present perfect, which is the grammar structure that we have to
00:04:25
deal with in this unit. Then the third activity is based on the vocabulary, which are the terms
00:04:34
related to natural disasters. This is a live worksheet based on this vocabulary, a specific
00:04:47
vocabulary related to natural disasters, well, nature disasters we can say. And then at the end
00:04:53
when you finish, you can see your mark, the mark you got. Then the next activity, as I said,
00:05:03
is optional. It's only for students who had problems in understanding the first video
00:05:10
in activity number one. So this video is also about the RLC, but it has a slower
00:05:17
rhythm, so the characters speak more slowly, so you guys will understand perfectly.
00:05:25
Then the fourth activity is the main video about the RLC, where you can see everything is explained
00:05:35
with detail. And then the final goal is, as I said before, to play the cajote
00:05:42
with your classmates. This cajote is based on the video with comprehension questions.
00:05:50
Well, I hope you learn a lot, I hope you like it, you enjoy and have fun, and see you in the class!
