Okay, today we are going to be talking about grammar and when to use that and who. 00:00:00
We use that and who to describe something or someone. So things and people. 00:00:07
So now we're going to talk about that. We use that to describe animals, 00:00:19
things, and sometimes people. So some animals, some things, and some people. 00:00:27
I'm looking for the bird. I'm looking for the bird that wears a hat. 00:00:36
Now we're going to talk about when to use who. We use who only to describe people. 00:00:45
Here are some people. The girl is my friend. The girl who wears a dress is my friend. 00:00:55
So now we're going to do some practice. Here we have two sentences. The first one reads, 00:01:09
the snail wears a scarf. The snail lives in the forest. So A, the snail that wears a scarf, 00:01:16
lives in the forest. So we're taking that first sentence, the snail wears a scarf, 00:01:32
and combining it with the snail lives in the forest. The snail, an animal, 00:01:40
so we use that. The snail that wears a scarf lives in the forest. 00:01:48
Now for the second one, the bird. The bird is what? An animal, a thing, or a person? 00:01:55
I think it's an animal. So it says, the bird wears a hat, and the bird is eating a worm. 00:02:02
So the first part, the bird that, because it's an animal, wears a hat, is eating a worm. So we're 00:02:12
So we're combining the bird wears a hat, and the bird is eating a worm, 00:02:23
to the bird that wears a hat is eating a worm. Now we're going to try it again. 00:02:29
This first example, the girl lost her ball, and the girl is crying. Is the girl a thing, 00:02:39
an animal, or a person? I think it's a person. So we're going to use who. The girl who lost her 00:02:48
ball is crying. So we combined the girl lost her ball, and the girl is crying, to the girl who lost 00:03:00
her ball is crying. Now for this next example, we're combining the man wears glasses, 00:03:11
and the man is carrying the boy. Do we use who or that when talking about the man? 00:03:20
I think we use who. The man who wears glasses is carrying the boy. So we're combining the man 00:03:30
wears glasses, and the man is carrying the boy, to the man who wears glasses is carrying the boy. 00:03:40
And that's all for practice. Thank you. Good job, guys. 00:03:50
