Success criteria for your video book.
00:00:00
Today I'll explain you the final task of our project, 1984 video pick.
00:00:11
You'll be making a video in groups of two to five students.
00:00:48
In your video you'll role play different characters.
00:00:52
You can choose the character you prefer.
00:00:55
It could be a character from the book 1984, a famous historical figure you know,
00:00:57
For example, Stalin or Roosevelt, or in modern political figures such as Fidel Castro or Trump.
00:01:02
The characters you role-play must discuss the similarities and differences between the political system represented in 1984, total terrorism, and our current political system, democracy.
00:01:09
Objective is that you are able to express your opinions on which political system, total terrorism or democracy, you prefer and justify why.
00:01:21
Moreover, you have to choose the structure of your video.
00:01:49
It could be a debate, for example, a round table, an interview, or a performance where you can reenact parts of the book 1984 or even change whatever you like in the story, for example, the end.
00:01:53
Finally, your videos must be from 5 to 8 minutes long.
00:02:06
Make sure you've understood the task, and off you go.
00:02:10
good morning and welcome to our school project 1984 video book today we have the incredible
00:02:13
honor to welcome two of the most relevant political leaders of the world the u.s former
00:04:46
president barack obama and the north korean political leader
00:04:53
in our class we have read and discussed 1984 by george orwell i guess you too also read it when
00:04:59
you were students at high school and we would really love to know what you think about it
00:05:11
me me i'll be first in answer 1984 orwell of course i've read thousands of american and
00:05:16
British books to understand your crazy ideas. Anyway, I really like this book because it shows
00:05:26
how society must be all over the world. I'm big brother in my country and I control it all.
00:05:33
Interesting. Thanks, Mr. Young. And Mr. Obama, what about you? Did you have to read the book
00:05:41
when you were at school? Yes, I read the book when I was 16. I still remember it very well.
00:05:47
This dystopia shows the dangers of totalitarianism.
00:05:53
This will never happen in the United States.
00:05:57
Democracy has always been our political system, and it always will be.
00:05:59
We want everybody to feel free, to have rights, to be in peace, at least in our country.
00:06:05
We can have a world in peace. Yes, we can.
00:06:11
We can see you both think your political system is the best. Can you explain why?
00:06:15
Yes, yes, of course. Because in my country, everything is under my control. And from my point of view, that's the way to guarantee everybody's rights. In my country, there is no crime. Everybody has something to eat. Everybody has a house to live in. Everybody's poor. I mean, everybody's happy. In fact, all North Koreans want to live in my country. Do you know?
00:06:21
Thanks, thanks. So, Mr. Obama, what do you think?
00:06:48
Do all North Americans want to live in the United States?
00:06:51
Of course they do. Even Mexicans want to live in my country.
00:06:54
Remember, we invented Coca-Cola, Apple, Facebook.
00:06:59
They couldn't have been invented if we didn't have democracy in the United States.
00:07:02
Ah, I see.
00:07:07
Democracy has given us the right to vote, the right to buy everything we want, if we have the money, of course.
00:07:08
The right to choose your own destiny
00:07:14
Our political system is the best in the world
00:07:16
Ho ho ho
00:07:18
You don't know what you're talking about
00:07:20
Wait wait wait
00:07:22
Thanks for coming
00:07:23
I think now we have a clear idea
00:07:24
About how things are like in both the United States and North Korea
00:07:27
You guys
00:07:30
Thanks for listening to our program too
00:07:31
See you next week
00:07:34
In our next episode of 1984
00:07:36
Video book
00:07:38
everybody today we have three resume students who are going to tell us many interesting facts
00:07:39
about their countries hi Rose we have heard that in the state you have more freedom than in Cuban
00:07:59
Spain how is that Oh have you that's totally true we have the best president ever Donald Trump he's
00:08:05
so handsome and stylish. We are free, yes, but not totally. The truth is that although
00:08:14
we can try to live the life we want, we have to peel our ass of working in order to pay
00:08:23
for our debts.
00:08:28
What about you, Fidela? How are things in Cuba?
00:08:30
Things in Cuba are much better than in the States. We have no debts, since education
00:08:40
is free for everyone. The real problem is that we don't have any money to survive and
00:08:47
we can't speak out. Our president doesn't like it.
00:08:55
Interesting! And what about Spain, Maria? Oh, Spain is paradise! Everybody has access
00:09:09
to education and to the national health system. Young people are fully qualified
00:09:18
here and have loads of job opportunities. You only need to have a look at the
00:09:24
amount of Spanish engineers, doctors and teachers working in McDonald's for the
00:09:30
minimum salary. Isn't that great? All these talent properly use frying chips.
00:09:37
oh thank you very much for sharing with us these great aspects about your countries
00:09:51
that will be all for today now it's your turn to make up your mind and decide which is the
00:09:56
best economic system for you to live in good luck to you
