Hello boys and girls from the 5th grade, today I am going to show you some basic aspects 00:00:00
about the Catholic Monarchs. 00:00:07
During the first half of the 15th century, the Iberian Peninsula was divided into five 00:00:09
large territories, the Crown of Castile, the Crown of Aragon, the Kingdom of Navarra, the 00:00:15
Kingdom of Portugal and the Islamic Kingdom of Granada. 00:00:20
The Crown of Castile was marked by continuous revolts of the nobles in the 15th century. 00:00:28
When King Henry IV died in 1474, the Castilians were divided between the supporters of his 00:00:33
daughter Juana de la Veltraneja and the supporters of her sister Isabella, and Isabella was finally 00:00:40
the winner of that battle. 00:00:49
In 1469, Ferdinand, son of the King of Aragon, married Isabella, and 10 years later, in 1479, 00:00:53
when Isabella became Queen of Castile and Ferdinand King of Aragon, the two crowns were 00:01:01
united. 00:01:06
The Catholic Monarchs governed their territories together, but each kingdom had its own laws 00:01:10
and institutions, it was a dynastic union. 00:01:16
