Vídeo- resumen de los comparativos y superlativos en inglés, incluyendo reglas gramaticales y ejemplos.
Hello lovely students and welcome back to a new Boots to Peel.
00:00:04
Today we are talking about comparatives and superlatives.
00:00:10
Comparative adjectives are used to compare two nouns.
00:00:16
For example, that elephant is bigger than this mouse.
00:00:21
Notice the use of the word than, T-H-A-N, N, after that comparative.
00:00:26
Superlative adjectives, on the other hand, are used to describe the highest or lowest degree of equality among three or more elements.
00:00:36
An example, this is the best school in town.
00:00:48
Notice also the use of the article the before the superlative.
00:00:53
And now, let's look at a few rules.
00:01:01
For one-syllable adjectives, we add er to comparatives and est to superlatives.
00:01:05
Short, shorter, shortest. Long, longer, longest. A couple of examples. I am shorter than you.
00:01:15
Comparative. Let's see a superlative example. The Nile is the longest river in the world.
00:01:30
For one-syllable adjectives that follow the consonant-vowel-consonant pattern, we double the final consonant.
00:01:38
It's easy, pay attention.
00:01:51
FAT, F-A-T, consonant-vowel-consonant, we'll double the final T.
00:01:54
FAT, FATA, FATEST.
00:02:04
Sad, sadder, saddest. A couple of examples here too. Your dog is much fatter than
00:02:08
before. That's a comparative. Now a superlative. It was the saddest day of my
00:02:19
life. Is it clear? Now let's talk about two syllable adjectives. Most two syllable
00:02:26
comparatives add more and the superlatives add most. Pleasant, more
00:02:37
pleasant, most pleasant. Famous, more famous, most famous. Let's see a couple of
00:02:46
sentences here. There's nothing more pleasant than walking in the forest.
00:02:55
comparative form. My neighbor is the most famous person in the country. A superlative.
00:03:01
But there are other two syllable adjectives. What about those that finish
00:03:11
in Y? All right? If a two syllable adjective ends in Y, we remove the Y, we
00:03:18
change it to I and then we add ER or EST. Ready? Happy, two syllables. Why? So, happy,
00:03:27
happier, happiest. Hungry, hungrier, hungriest. Let's see them in some
00:03:41
sentences. Nobody is happier than Tom after winning a race. That is a
00:03:49
comparative. Let's see a superlative. That's the hungriest lion I've ever seen.
00:03:57
Superlative. And then, finally, there are some irregular adjectives that don't
00:04:06
follow any rule for example good better best bad worse worst little less least
00:04:13
far farther farthest with a or with you both are correct an example my
00:04:28
experience at that restaurant was the worst of my life. That is a superlative, a
00:04:41
comparison. The chocolate cake is better than the strawberry ice cream. You see
00:04:49
the difference? Good. And well, right, that's it for me today. Thanks for
00:04:58
watching. I'll see you soon for another lesson. Have a great day. Bye bye, guys.
