Comparatives and superlatives. Today we are going to talk about who to compare things with comparatives and superlatives. 00:00:05
Comparative and superlatives. When we talk about the adjectives that we are going to compare, there are a number of rules that we have to follow. 00:00:21
Here we have a table that is going to help us. 00:00:30
Comparative and superlatives. 00:00:41
Adjective, comparative adjective, superlative adjective. 00:00:43
Adjective with one syllable. 00:00:48
We have fat. 00:00:51
When we put fat in comparative, we have to double the T and add ER, fatter. 00:00:53
And in superlative, we have to add EST and D before the superlative. 00:00:59
D, fatter. 00:01:07
When we have adjectives with two syllables ending in Y, we have to change the Y to an I and add ER. 00:01:09
And in the superlative, we have to add EST and add DE before the superlative, the HATES. 00:01:19
When we have adjectives with two syllables ending in ER, we also have to add ER, LEVERED, and in the superlative, EST. 00:01:27
And in adjectives with two syllables ending in "-le", we have to only add "-r", simple. 00:01:39
And in the superlative, "-st", "-de", simple. 00:01:50
When we have adjectives with two syllables ending in "-o", like narrow, we have to add 00:01:56
"-er", narrower, and "-est", and "-de", before the superlative, then a lower. 00:02:03
Adjectives with two or more syllables. When we have adjectives with two or more syllables, we have to add more in front of an adjective to compare and most of the superlatives will be the same. 00:02:08
Follow a rule that we had seen a few minutes ago. 00:02:30
Irregular adjectives. Here we have three types of irregular adjectives. Bad that means worse in comparative and the worst in superlative. Good, better in comparative and the best in superlative. And little that becomes less in comparative and the least in superlative. 00:02:36
See, you are better than me at swimming or you are better than me at swimming. 00:03:03
Bye, thank you for listening. 00:03:16
