In this video, I'll show you what I've prepared for my students of English at the Official School of Languages. 00:00:02
First of all, let's have a look at my PowerPoint called Read and Enjoy. 00:00:11
This is a unit I've designed for B2-2 level of English at the Official School of Languages. 00:00:22
The setting is literature and my aim is to foster or to encourage my students to read for pleasure, not just as a classroom activity. 00:00:31
By doing the activities I've designed, my students will be working on specific competencies, 00:00:48
such as interacting orally, the understanding of the text, writing and producing text, 00:01:01
and also they will be working on digital competencies. 00:01:11
How are we going to do this? Well, the activities I've designed are essentially communicative. 00:01:18
Students will have to speak about a book, like describing characters, referring to the plot and so on. 00:01:29
They will engage in interactions with their partners, where they will have to ask questions, 00:01:39
and there's also a cultural factor in the activities, as they will learn about the author and the genre of the book. 00:01:46
At the end of this unit, my students will be able to extract and analyse the overall meaning of a text, 00:02:02
and they will be able to actively collaborate in interactive situations by using strategies to enhance their ability to communicate. 00:02:09
The main teaching approach is communicative, so here we're talking about action-orientated tasks, 00:02:26
which involves sometimes the use of digital tools, as we will see later on. 00:02:35
As an example of the exercises or activities I've designed, in Term 1, my students will be doing this crossword, 00:02:45
which refers to the characters of the novel they've just read. 00:03:04
Okay, so this is through the virtual classroom, and this is in Term 1. 00:03:10
And the last thing I'd like to comment is the activities for students with different learning paces. 00:03:20
So, to start with, as we learned before, they will have to read a novel, 00:03:34
and they will have to read some instructions on how to deal with this unit. 00:03:46
Okay, so these tasks are linked to some instructions. 00:03:55
Okay, so the first activity here is to do a video. 00:04:08
Okay, this is something they've done before, but if they need to revise how to do this, well, they have the chance to revise this. 00:04:22
Okay, they will also be asking questions to their partners, yes, about the book they have read. 00:04:39
