Today we're going to do a short video tutorial on how to use the program Scratch using the online
00:00:01
version. The first thing we're going to do is navigate to the upper right hand corner
00:00:07
where you would log in and go to My Stuff. As you can see, this is where I have an animated GIF
00:00:11
stored. All of your different projects will be stored under this. However, I want to create a
00:00:19
new project so we will navigate navigate up to the tab that says create once you
00:00:25
click on that it's going to automatically open up a new project for
00:00:32
you so you can go ahead and title that something as you remember from the last
00:00:35
tutorial we have the stage and we have our sprite which is our character the
00:00:45
first thing I'm going to do is add a background I'm going to find this
00:00:49
bedroom here three and then i'm going to add a sprite for this example i'm going to go ahead
00:00:56
and pick a chicken or a hen as you can see you can actually have more than one sprite
00:01:06
per back per backdrop but for this i'm going to go ahead and just use the chicken so i'll
00:01:13
delete this one. Next I'm going to resize this chicken. I'm going to go for a 170.
00:01:19
There we go. Position him where I want him. Now I'm going to add some movement right
00:01:27
after I click Save Now. This is the code right here. So what we're going to do is
00:01:33
we're going to drag the pieces of code that we want over to the stage to get
00:01:40
the action that we want performed. I'm only going to use these three controls
00:01:43
to begin with so motion I'm sorry these five so motion looks sound events and
00:01:50
control first thing I'm going to do is add an event when clicked what I'm
00:01:56
saying is that when this is clicked this hen is going to perform an action maybe
00:02:03
I want that action to be a sound what I'm going to do because I don't have a
00:02:08
pre-installed sound of a chicken is I'm going to record one so I'm going to go
00:02:15
ahead and start right now let's go ahead and play it see if we can shorten it do
00:02:21
a little quick editing okay perfect save that and I'm going to change the
00:02:41
name to chicken sound and save now now I'm going to navigate back to the code
00:02:47
to apply some more actions so let's go ahead and find that chickens downed so
00:02:56
So, when clicked on, we're going to hear the chicken sound.
00:03:03
Okay, perfect.
00:03:09
Next, I want some motion.
00:03:10
So, I want this chicken to move 50 steps afterward.
00:03:13
And then, after that, I want him to think about something.
00:03:19
He's going to realize that he's hungry.
00:03:23
And we're going to see these words on the screen for five seconds.
00:03:29
next I'm going to add a control because I want some of these to be on repeat so
00:03:35
the control that we're going to choose is um repeat right here and I'm just
00:03:47
going to drag it into these three parts okay let's go ahead and see what we
00:03:57
created. Okay, and that ends our tutorial for today.
