Did you know astronauts' bodies change in space?
00:00:09
Well, my body always changes on Earth.
00:00:12
Right, but in space, changes are more dramatic.
00:00:14
For example, body fluids move from your lower body to your upper body,
00:00:17
so astronauts' faces look puffy.
00:00:21
Really? What else happens?
00:00:23
Astronauts grow about one to two inches in space
00:00:25
because fluids also move into the spaces between the bones and the spine,
00:00:28
which makes it lengthen.
00:00:31
Wow, I would be as tall as you are.
00:00:32
Astronauts exercise one to two hours a day in space.
00:00:35
This keeps their heart and muscles strong because they don't work as hard when they float.
00:00:39
What about the brain? Does it change too?
00:00:43
